Hola!

Just a quickie... I stopped breastfeeding over a week and a half ago and I stopped completely. The first 3 days were agony but I expected that from suddenly just stopping..

So, why am I still leaking milk?! I still feel let downs occasionally too? Is this normal? What's going on?

(And, I'm scared to ask this in case I back-track, but what the hell  )

What are the chances of me possibly trying to build milk supply up again?

hon, i think milk can be produced for quite some while after stopping... i'm sure others will be able to tell you their experiences.

relactation is a definite possibility if you do want to give it a go. you'd need a fair bit of patience and stubbornness but we all know you've got those in bucketloads! if you do want to give it a go, make sure you choose a time when both you and miss evie are chilled out and relaxed so that neither of you feel any pressure. la leche league would definitely be able to help you with this & give better advice on it.

I only breastfed for 3 days and I would say that I leaked for a good 4 weeks or so after that - not hugely towards the end, but enough to need pads.

I thought you might be considering this when I read your Facebook status!

Relactation is definitely a possibility Dannii, give it a go, you've nothing to lose - just prepare to be stubbon and sofa bound for a while!

Carina relactated her son very successfully (as far as I remember she found it easiest to feed in the bath, I think her milk supply was great here), it would definitely be worth PMing her for advice. I think Sweetcheeks24 relactated for a while too, you could PM her too?

Good luck, please let us know how you get on!

Hi Dannii,
Here's a useful thread from the La Leche League forum from a mum that went back from formula to breast feeding. I'm trying to do the same thing myself. Eleanor was having 2/3 formula and now I'm down to 1/3 formula. It's possible if your nips are recovered from before it may be worth a try. What ever you decide to do, don't beat yourself up about your decision.

Oops...forgot to add the thread :wall:

I've definitely heard that it is possible hun :D Good luck if that is what you want to do

Thanks ladies!! She won't latch.. I made sure I used teats that help avoid nipple confusion too?

I know this sounds awful, but I haven't got that drive and determination that I had before. I'm so laid back about it - Like, if it works it works, if it doesn't it doesn't  I need that OOOMPH back? I'm kind of scared to put her back on the boob because of the pain last time we BF. My nipples are only just recovering and the blisters have gone now so I'm a bit worried.

Plus, pumping KILLS!! It's agony. I got 10ml from one boob last night, drained it, and it was sooo painful I actually could have easily cried.

I tried her at 6am this morning and she took a little bit, but it hurt and just felt very strange, like neither of us really liked it?! I don't know...

Is it worth it?! I'm not sure and it's doing my head in! I just want to make a flamin' decision and stick to it for once! xx

its worth it if you want to do it   if you don't, then don't kill yourself over it - you tried so bloody hard last time that you still deserve a medal for perseverance!

it might be worth giving the nipple shields a try again; connor hasn't a clue what to do with my boob without shields (mam ones all the way!) but we're 8 months down the line with them and going strong.

i know what that indecisive feeling is like cos i had it at the start when i wasn't sure whether to give formula top ups or not. i think i changed my mind about every 30 seconds and i really annoyed myself
