Long cycles?!

Hiya!

I know we've only been trying since Dec 2009 but I was wondering if my long cycles could be the reason that we're not concieving??

My cycles have been:

50days
43days
36days
44days
41days

Has anybody or does anybody know of anyone who's concieved with such long cycles?

Also do you think it's worth going to the docs about it now or do you think we'll just get told to keep trying?

Go to the doctors and tell them you have been ttc for a year now with no success, ok small lie but hey as I just said to Chazabell if it gets you seen to quicker then thats the main thing!!

I got my BFP with jacob on cycle day 84!! my cycles were long due to my under active thyroid, maybe get it checked hun xx

Hmm Cheers girls! I think we're going to leave it another 2 months or so to see if the pills we've just started have an effect and then we'll try the Docs.

Those do seem like rather long cycles but as far as i am aware i would have thought that it wouldn't make a difference.

Do you use OPKs? I was just thinking that having such long cycles makes it easier to miss the very small window for you to conceive in.

I read that an egg lasts 24 hours but typically it is only fertilised within the first 12 hours

I agree that you should go to the doctor and grossly exaggerate how long you have been ttc - tell them 2 years.

If i haven't conceived in 6 month that is exactly what i'll be doing.

lol we are very tempted to lie and say we've been trying for ages but we both absolutley hate the Doctors! lol

I did opk's 2 cycles ago but because I didn't drink or pee for 4 hours every afternoon to make sure my pee was strong enough for the strips to work I got really really chapped and sore lips! Plus I spent the whole cycle clock watching and thinking about peeing! lol

Hi claire. I find opk's a total mare but wanted to know if I was at least ovulating so started doing temps and turns out I'm not ovulating, docs will see u after six months if not ovulating as no point waiting a year as there's no way your gonna get up the duff if no ethel egg being released. So might be worth trying your temps as it the most accurate way to see if you HAVE ovulated
