Hi

It's been a long time from i posted here!!!

I just want a bit of advice really.

I had a miscarriage Feb of this year totally breaking my heart!!

I have been trying again since April with no joy but my cycles are now every 38 days given that they were always 35days anyway and at my last hospital check up they told me i had PCOS in my left side and that it was nothing to worry about!!

It took us about 7 months to conceive the first time.

Do you think that the 38day cycle will affect our chances now??

Any advice please?? :?

hello

Sorry to hear about misscarriage,

Pcos is common in women and should not really worry about it.

It just might take you a little longer however this does depend on the person.

I have been TTC since Sep 06 and still waiting but it will happen when time it right

**EDITED to say i have 1 34 day cycle and this will not affect you, however it is just longer between TTC.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I hope your BFP won't keep you waiting too long

Thanks for the advice!! :D

It's a hard thing to go through especially when all your family are having babies around you!!

I  know it will happen some day just wish it was sooner rather than later!!

Best of luck to you and your partner as well!!

Hey hon,

I had a m/c in feb too and have been ttc since. Lets hold hands and hopefully we will both be more lucky next time round :D

Hi

Sorry to hear about your loss.

I too have cycles around 38 days and have spoken to my GP and had blood work done. I have been advised that there is absolutely no problem with having a longer cycle, the key thing is that you have regular periods, the time between them isn't an issue providing its constistent. Remember that 28 days is just an average!

Obviously its very annoying having to wait that little bit longer to ovulate etc but am sure you'll get you BFP soon (especially as you know you are capable of conceiving).

Good luck...

THANKS!!! YEAH WE WILL!!!

We try to be positive and say it could of been a lot worse but nothing prepares you for something like that and theres not a day goes by where we don't think about it!! you wonder why!!

But anyway im gonna think positive this month and eat healthy, take my folice acid and see what happens. fingers crossed you for youtoo!!! :D

thanks Sunnyday!!

To be honest right from when i first started my periosd i've never had a 28 days cycle!! only when i was on the pill and that wasn't for very long!!

So it's just not worrying as much and relaxing that seems to be the key and plenty of bedding of course!!!!

Are you trying to conceive yourself???

HI there

I have really long cycles 35 is my shortest length and sometimes i go right up into the 50days etc. :wall: :wall:

When i asked about how this effects my fertility rate etc it was explained to me that the only reason i will be less likely to conceive than the next person is that if you calculate how many times in 52 weeks (a year) the average 28 day cycle person ovulates compared to that of someone like myself i will ovulate fewer times over the year which means there is fewer days in a year where i will be fertile compared the othe 28 days cycle people.

But if you know your cycles well and can identify when you ovulate within your cycles (i.e i started charting which has been a huge help, monitoring CM and remebering that the day 14 ovulation rule doesn't apply to us because we don't have a 28day cycle) you can pretty much get to know your peak fertile days.

I cannot advice on the effects of PCOS on fertility but in terms of your cycle length as long as your aware of your fertile phase you stand as good a chance as the next person within that cycle.

Basically only time will tell really so get BD'ing!!!!

HTH in some way.

Bex :D

Yes we are TTC, I had a miscarriage last month at 6 weeks, but seemed to ovulate ok this month on day 21. Its now 6dpo so am playing the waiting game!

Its amaxing when you talk to people how many women don't have a 28 day cycle, as Littlemisspink says, if you understand your cycles then its not really a problem.

Keep us posted on your progress and take care...

A collegue(sp?) of mine has PCOS and it only took her 3 mths to conceive. I think it all depends ont he individual.

Good luck on getting you BFP

Scott: you should make sure they do all the appropriate tests to make sure you have PCOS. When I had my m/c in April of last year I lived int he UK and the midwife who did my scan said that my ovaries looked as if they could be polycystic. Well... they did the same thing and said " oh it's no big deal and we can't confirm it until you've had three m/c's!" I couldn't believe that!

Anyway... when I moved back to the States this past January and I started going to my Ob/gyn, I told him what the midwife had said... and he said "PCOS is an antique term, and it usually doesn't just happen one day it's a life long thing you have from birth pretty much". He also said that after a miscarriage your ovaries look "juicier" from the hormones from pregnancy. PCOS is mostly linked to insulin resistance and so my doctor preformed a "fasting glucose" test on me to check for that and it came back in the normal ranges. Also he did another scan to look at my ovaries and said they didn't look polycystic! So definitely either get another opinion or make sure they do the necessary tests to check for sure if you actually have PCOS.
