Hi everyone
First time forum user! My husband and I had been trying to get pregnant since we got married a year and a half ago. Yesterday, my period was over a week late (just returned from a holiday) so thought I'd do a pregnancy test (have been used to so many negatives in the past :( ....) Anyway to my suprise it came out positive....I was more in shock because that morning I had been to the bathroom and when I'd wiped had some brown discharge (TMI I know!) and thought this must be the start of my period...Of course I had to do two more tests to be sure (one digital) and they both came out positive too! Also my boobs had been aching so much for about a week. I'm obviously just a bit nervous as I wasn't sure what brown discharge (sorry TMI again) means - has anyone else had this?? There's not lots of it - maybe just once in the morning and once in the evening and also today a bit. Went to the docs today to get it checked out and they just told me it was too early to tell anything yet....Really appreciate any advise as he didn't seem to give me much!! THANKS so much in advance..

Hiya  And Welcome to the forum  you will find it extremely helpful on here as all of the ladies are lovely and offer a wealth of advice through their own experiences and those of others.

As to the brown discharge hun, and because you are very early on it could possibly implantation bleeding where the embryo is just bedding itself in and getting all nice and comfy. As Long as its not bright red accompanied with painful cramping you should be ok, This type of bleeding when your period should of been due is really quite common as im sure a lot of other ladies on here will agree.

I hope this helps to ease your worries a little, i found this on a site if it helps   xx

(implantation bleeding: There can be a small amount of spotting associated with the normal implantation of the embryo into the uterine wall, called implantation bleeding. This is usually very minimal, but frequently occurs on or about the same day as your period was due. This can be very confusing if you mistake it for simply a mild period and don't realize you are pregnant. This is a normal part of pregnancy and no cause for concern.)

Hi Kayzee

Thank you so much. Its so easy to feel very isolated when you can't tell your friends or family until 3 months. I really appreciate your speedy response. I'm hoping that the brown CM will just disappear. I will try and stay as calm as possible. Don't think stress will help!

It feels like we've been trying for such a long time - very selfish as I know a year and a bit isn't THAT long! Kept on thinking there was something really wrong.

I'm off on holiday for 4 days tomorrow so hopefully that will provide me with the rest that the doctor advised.

I will keep you posted. I'd be really interested to hear of anyone else who has had this too.

Thanks so much again. x

Hiya!!

I had bleeding about a week before a positive pregnancy test followed by twinges and cramps...

Perhaps as explained it's just implamantation bleeding. Congratulations by the way xxxxxxxxxxx

yep i had the brown bleeding too at 8wks+ when i had a scan babs was fine the midwife said it was old blood, enjoy your hols :)

Its not something that I have had but like the girls say its quite common to have implantation bleeding. Congrats on your pregnancy!!! xxx

HI hun, gratz on ur BFP
I had brown discharge with my 1st and 2nd pregnancy, and both babies are fine, I havent had it yet but there is still time :D

Try and relax hun

Thank you all so much. I definitely plan on relaxing as much as possible on hols (have told my husband this too! :) - Its so funny the things that you don't know until you get started. I've woken up this morning and it seems to have decreased a bit so fingers crossed

Congratulations to all of you as well - maybe I should get some pics up too - I love the bump shots!

xxxxx

 Just gatecrashing!

I had the same thing earlier on in the pregnancy and was worried so booked a scan. They could not find the reason for the blood-ish discharge and said pretty much 1 in every 4 women has that in their pregnancy so it is very common!

You can always doublecheck with you MW for your own peace of mind but if there's no pain or cramps you should have nothing to worry about!

Congratulations as well!!! :D x

Hello again

Thank you all so much for your support. I had a lovely holiday and feel very rested. The brown continued a bit but always light so I'm keeping everything crossed that its all ok.

Off to the docs this afternoon anyway - am hoping I can persuade them to give me an early scan....see what happens :?

This forum has been such a help. I'm sure I'd have been stressing too much otherwise!!

Let us know how you get on with the Docs hun, pleased you had a good relax...the forum is great, you will be addicted before you know it lol xx

Hello there

I think this website went down for a while this morning - glad to be back online!

I saw a much nicer doctor yesterday - she asked all the right questions and managed to write me a referral to the hospital for a scan. I decided (as I'm so impatient!) that I'd go straight away.

I was so nervous for some reason in the waiting room but saw such a nice doctor who instantly said "well we've only got very good news!" - Then I saw my little grain of rice on screen with its heart beat - so excited!!

I know its all really early so just have to take it easy. Difficult when work is so busy!!

Can't wait for the first 12 weeks to be over (currently in my 7th so really early).....

Watch this space I guess - difficult not to get very excited :)

Am now feeling so so tired - could sleep all day but when it comes to night time I toss and turn all night! Oh dear!

Hope you're all really well and happy

xxJ
