Is anyone else ttc whilst on levothyroxine? I was started on it in April as my tsh levels were over 2.53 and ideally should be less than 2.5 when ttc. However my cycles have gone from being fairly regular to being completely irregular with my luteal phase changing from 14 days to 7. Not sure whether to stick it out and they will balance out or whether it really doesn’t suit me?

I've been on it since I was 19. They keep saying my levels are fine but I know they're off just in how I feel. I've upped my dosage (which I don't recommend without discussing with gp) to try and normalise. I'm not sure if it changed my periods as I was on the pill when I started thyroxine. I just know it's really difficult to get right. I have also read links with underactive thyroid and miscarriage which I want to discuss with my gp

Thanks smithy, the leaflet that comes with it does mention irregular periods as an unconfirmed side effect but I can’t seem to find anyone whose cycles have been altered as drastically as mine since taking it. The dr I saw said that your levels should be below 2.5 when conceiving ideally as above this can cause miscarriage and then should be monitored closely through pregnancy and the dose may need to be altered as pregnancy changes your levels. Definitely worth you speaking to your dr about and checking your levels x
