So I’m due on in the next few days and it’ll be my fourth unsucccessful cycle of clomid at 50mg. I had bloods with the first cycle which indicated ovulation. Was put on it due to suspected pcos but at my last mid-clomid consultant appointment a different consultant said he didn’t think I had it. He gave me three final months and asked me to get bloods done with each cycle to monitor ovulation. The consultant hasn’t got the results back to me yet (we communicate via email as my gp surgery deals with results up to two weeks after tests!!) and I’m not sure whether to take the normal 50mg (which means I’ll have two more cycles) or double up and give it one last good go? Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Starting to give up now, 3 years in and very tired of anticipating the monthly disappointment x

I've taken both doses, got twins on 50mg and a singleton on 100mg.

I don't have pcos just slightly whacky cycles.

I'd do 100, you can always buy more online!

Xx

Hi. What did your doctor recommend? I started on a full tablet per day but was then told to only take half the pills. I’m current 11 weeks pregnant with twins! Don’t know if identical or fraternal though.

My consultant says clomid accumulates in your system - I only did three cycles and didn’t try on the first as had released 3 eggs (hence halving dose).

Do you have Day 12 scans to see how it works each cycle or not? Or just bloods. I never had bloods but had internal scans to see what magic the clomid had worked. I didn’t have a scan on third cycle as on second it was one egg so I was going to go every other month.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck!

P.S. I find it amazing how much variance treatment styles are across the country! X

I had 5 cycles of 50 mg my first 21 day bloods said I ovulated after my last lot I had 21 day bloods and it said I didn’t ovulate so my dose has now been upped to 100mg just because it works for the first cycle doesn’t always mean it fo to he’s to work I would have a blood test to check good luck
