I know it's a bit early, but this latest in a long line of worries is keeping me awake at night. I am worrying that if i go into labour by myself what the hell do i do with my 2 children. All my family are in Scotland, I havent lived here that long and would only feel comfortable about asking 1 or 2 people to watch my children. But... what if they are out for the day or it's the middle of the night? Do i just go to hospital and do it by myself leaving my dh to watch the kids.

My other 2 children were both inductions after being nearly 2 weeks late both times so i am kind of expecting the same again but obviously i have to make plans just in case by some miracle i go into labour spontaneously. If i were to be induced then my mum will be here.

Have any of you ladies done it by yourself? I dont think my husband would like that anyway he'd want to be there like he was both times before. I have even considered a home birth but i had complications after my last child was born so i wouldnt be allowed one. Sorry for the long and rambling post but this has been really worrying me and just wanted to get it all out!

Oh hun, you shouldn't get yourself worked up over that.
It says in my pregnancy book that you should be around family during the time you are due, which I'm sure you will be.
It also says to make sure you have a plan on how to get to the hospital and who to leave your other children with etc.

You should really talk to your husband about this and just tell him you're worried you'll be alone when it happens.
I'm sure when the time comes, you'll have arranged something! It's always good to plan ahead whilst you can xxx

I have similar worries as my hubby works off shore and month about and so I'm worried I'll end up in labour without him around! I've got 2 friends on standby to be with me as all my and his family are in England and wales but I'm in Scotland! Not worried about my daughter as she's 14 and I'm planning a home birth, is that an option for you? Speak to your trusted friends and make sure they will be contactable day or night to have kids so your mind is set to rest. My midwife suggested my mum came and stayed for a month! Like she hasn't got her own life and commitments!

A home birth is not an option I'm afraid and my dh won't even consider it. My mum will come if I am being induced but she works full time and lives five and a half hours drive away so getting her here quickly if needed is not easy. It's such a worry, I don't want to burden anyone to be on stand by as knowing me nothing will happen naturally, if I was in scotland this really wouldn't be an issue. I have even considered going to scotland for the weeks before the birth but then dh will probably still miss it!

My hubby put his foot down about a home birth too until we went to hospital a few weeks back as I had kidney stones, he realized why I won't even consider a hospital birth unless it's an emergency so something good came out of my kidney stones! I don't think your friends will mind, I was on call along with another friend for a mutual friend earlier this year, I was happy she asked and glad to help, i didnt want her worrying, turned out the other friend got the call to mind her daughter as she was on the night calls! Her hubby was only gone 4 hours as she was so quick! It didn't stop us doing anything just always made sure I had my mobile!

I have very similar worries. All our family live abroad, so they are out of the equasion, and I am worried that I go into labour on Christmas eve or day, or New Year's eve (due 30/1), as I would feel incredibly embarrassed about asking friends to look after our Children on those days. If it's any other day it wouldn't be a problem. Have also thought about having a homebirth, but not sure how comfortable I feel about this idea. Sorry I can't really come up with any helpful suggestions, could do with them myself...
