Just wanted to pass on a tip I was given at the weekend from a friend who is a doula.

Apparently, to reduce the bruising effects of labour, it helps to take arnica tablets every two hours from the onset of labour. Two of my friends took her advice and both of them had much reduced bruising. One of them even had a third degree tear and wasn't in great amounts of discomfort - she attributes this directly to the arnica. It's certainly something that I think I will try and wanted to let you ladies know about it!

Apologies if this has already been covered before.

OOOOer! I have not heard that before but will try anything cos i wont be wanting the brusing i had last time!I was sitting on that damn doughnut for weeks just cos of bruising!

I'll defo be taking it, last time I had to sit on my duvet for about a week

you are 3weeks too late lol.

i have had awful bruising. its not too bad now, but before, it felt like someone was ripping of my bean when i stood up. not nice at all

I was told it was good to take it after, but i never thought about taking it before, good tip there. and thanks :)

i will look into it but not allowed to laeve the house on my own now as my waters may of broken.

I took it from birth and my episiotomy healed really well.

Would deffo recommend :D

I still take arnica now, I'd also suggest Hypericum (injury to nerves-I had the epidural and c-section prep) and Staphisagria episiotimy) for during labour, after birth, but depends on how your labour, after birth goes I guess, and always best to seek advice from a homeopath if you're unsure although they are herbal so safe :) You can get a childbirth kit for as little as £18, mine really helped me :)

For that troublesome first poo after birth, Nux Vom is recommended too
