Well I took my temp this morning as I can't use opk and rely on them as I have PCOS and have had false positives in the past so the only way I know when I've ovulated is to temp. Af finished yesterday and I should probably have started on my first cycle day but forgot! Just downloaded fertility friend to my phone to help keep track properly. My temp this morning was 36.03 and I just want to know abit more about how much it dips/rises around ovulation etc just so I know what to look out for :). My cycles vary from 35/75 days! Hoping I ovulate in the next 2 weeks as I'll be back on the pill for a few months back to back to sort my hormones out. Started taking it this month but only for a few days as started randomly in cycle as wasn't sure when to expect af and af turned up an was awful but wasn't sure of the horrendous pain I was in a week before af was caused by the pill so hoping if I have to start it again I'm ok.

Thanks in advance :) x

Fertility friend is really good at pinpointing ovulation for me. Pre-ovulation my temps are roughly between 36.20 and 36.60 and after ovulation they're normally between 36.70 and 37.10. So it's not a massive jump but it is usually quite clear on the chart. I don't always get a dip around ovulation but I do always get the rise.

FF will indicate ovulation once your temp has raised significantly for 3 consecutive days. If you use OPKs this month as well, record them on fertility friend too. You can also keep track of cervical mucus on there, it might help you spot the signs that lead up to ovulation for you, as FF doesn't tell you when you ovulated until it's too late to have sex. So if you can learn to see the signs of ovulation approaching, you can get on with it when you're fertile!

I don't know if you can BBT when on the pill though, because I don't know how the pill affects the hormones that are associated with the temperature rise.

Thank you :). I'm not going to do anything while I'm on the pill- I'll just forget about ttc for a while but hoping that while I'm off work for 2 weeks my body will be relaxed and hopefully do it naturally- if I've not ovulate in two weeks then I'll go back on the pill- my doc is hoping that it will kick start ovulation and I've only had 6 cycles this year. Thanks for the info :) x

I have a few sticks left from my advanced ovulation tests from last cycle and thought well as I'm temping i might aswel just use them up along side temps because if it is a false positive then I'd know because of my temps-
Well anyway they're the ones that flash when leading up to ovulation- yesterday I got an empty circle and today I've got a solid smiley..... This is my second day of temping so can't really see a pattern but is it possible that I've actually got a proper positive ovulation test this early on in my cycle? I've told myself I wouldn't use them again but didn't want to chuck them lol x

Normally I have about 6 flashing smileys before I even get a solid x

Omg I'm so fed up! Finished af on Wednesday. Dtd Thursday eve and this morning (and as I said earlier got a 'positive' opk this morning on cd11) ... And now I've got some light bleeding! So confused :( x

That sounds frustrating. I don't know anything about those flashing opks (though I have a delivery of them arriving tomorrow so will have to learn fast!) so I don't know what that all meant. The bleeding is strange, perhaps it is connected to the PCOS?

Are the flashing opks usually reliable for you? I've read mixed reviews of them, some people saying that they flash too much or too little or jump straight to solid pics.

Not really to be honest- because of my PCOS I do get the surge so a positive result but not ovulate- so thought id temp along side it while I use the rest up. I randomly started them a few cycles back on about cd40 and got 8 flashing smileys then af turned up the 9th day so they were obvs picking up a hormone before af ( normally u wouldn't use them so close to af but I didn't realise I was about to come one due to irregular cycles). Last cycle I got 6 flashing smileys before my solid- thought I was in my tww but actually ovd on what I thought was 10dpo but wasn't doing the tests then so didn realise. X

This is my chart so far- looks like I didn't ovulate when I got my smiley opk :(.
Is it normal for my temps to be like this? X

I have no idea what that all means, I'm sorry! You should expect to see a rise in temps after a positive OPK, so perhaps your body was trying to ovulate but didn't manage. I would say, if you've got enough OPKs to just keep going with testing.

I find temping only really helps once you've done a few months and can establish a pattern too, so it might just be a case of hanging in there and seeing what happens with regards to temping. Not a quick or easy solution, I know, so much of TTCing relies on bloody waiting!

Hi there! I'm struggling with my temps too, they seem to be all
Over the place...

I had a thread about them a while back and I had some temps in the 35's (I think the lowest was 35.79) and someone told me they seemed too low and that this could be a sign of an under active thyroid which can stop ovulation... I have since had blood tests to check my thyroid and all seems normal so I'm not sure if some people just have lower temps, but yours seem even lower than mine can be. I'm not sure if PCOS would affect your temps, I'm a bit clueless but I just thought I would share the feedback I got in the past :) sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Are you temping at the same time every day before you get out of bed? If you do it at different times or move around before you temp this can affect temps quite a bit also. And iv been told temping vaginally is more accurate but I haven't tried that... I think DH my think I'm insane if I start that lol x

Thanks for the replies ladies. I figured my PCOS might have something to do with my temps but thanks for the info about the low temps- I didn't know that! This is my first month doing them- I take them at 7am every morning. I have moved about abit when reaching for the thermometer off side table and I was quite restless last night as I knew I had to be up early today! I've had bloods done and they came back that they link with my scan that I have PCOS/ they didnt say anymore about them though. Now having sharp stabby pains on my left side where I normally get ovulation pain. I might have a little research about PCOS affecting temps.

No probs sorry I couldn't really be of more help but just passing on info people gave to me :)

I started temping last month and ff told me I didn't ovulate... When I went to the doc he told me if I'm having periods then I am ovulating... Which I'm sure isn't that true! I'm only on cd8 at the min but so far temps are still all over the place! I might give up temping because it's starting to stress me out when I think I haven't ovulated!

I think if you have a restless night it can affect your temp, and sleeping with your mouth open can affect it too. Happy researching and good luck with your ttc journey :) x
