Hey ladies, after reading some of the threads on here, I have a few questions. We're still really early into the pregnancy but, like many couples, had discussed baby names before getting a BFP.

Now, we havn't even considered boys names at the mo, because we're both certain we're having a girl. We will probably be wrong :eh:

Hubby has always loved the name Delilah and to be honest, I really like it too...it will probably be shortened to layla, lilah...e.t.c. But, everyone we have told has burst into the good old fashioned Tom Jones song. It makes it sightly worse that we are from Wales...but I think it's such a strong female name.

Everyone hates it though.

If we can't be sure about it, then we will need a first name to go with the middle name "Olivia - Violet" Surname is Cox.

Watch now, we'll probably have a little boy. hehe.

Thanks in advance and looking forward to your opinions...please don't be shy xx

I like it, I think Delilah Violet sounds lovely, not so sure that Oliva goes as well as it's the same sound at the end of name as Delilah.. It is a strong name, and unusual , but I can't think of any good reason why that would be a neagtive for a girl... it's only going to help her make her way in the world... rather than blend in with the other 5 of the same name in her class, year, workplace..

Thanks JJ's mum. I wasn't actually thinking of having "Olivia Violet" with Delilah as I noticed the exact same thing as you (both with similar endings) I have just had so many negative responses to Dellilah, I was trying to think of a first name to go with "Olivia Violet". Delilah Violet is a new idea though, and I like it.

I must love Delilah though, because after only having 1 postive opinion about the name, It's back in my list of names.

Thank You for taking the time to respond :) xx

I like it :) Quite unusual but not too 'out there'. xxx

As i said on another thread i really like it! People told me they didnt like Alice and would sing that 'Alice Alice who the f is Alice' but i stuck to my guns because i love her name and now she is here its her so no one says anything - even my mum says she really likes her name and didnt when i was pregnant. This time we like Temperance and have had mixed reviews on that but you know what we love it so we will have it.

I think Delilah is a really pretty name i like it, I prefer Delilah Violet too because Delilah Olivia would sound a bit rhymey to me ifykwim? -- i do like Olivia though obviously its my LO's middle name but i think Violet is much more unusual and matches Delilah x

I really like it! If you're unsure though how about Viola? I noticed you like Violet and Viola has a similar ending sound to Delilah. A friend of mine called her little girl Viola Clare which is lovely. Just a thought :)

I like it too, Delilah is very pretty!

xxxxxxxx

I've had a shortlist of boys names I've loved since the begining. I really struggle with girl's names and haven't given it much thought until recently. I know its all just assumptions and hearsay but so many people are convinced i'm having a girl that i feel like i've had to give girl's names more thought....the list still hasn't grown that much mind you! :)
Delilah is really lovely.

We are the same, no boys names either time and we have a DD and expecting another girl.
I like Delilah, it's lovely. I also like Jemima which is unusual but not 'odd' too.
If you love a name, go for it.
I met a girl at a mother and baby thing with her little boy Hector. She said they deliberated long and hard but loved it do much they went for it and it really suited her little boy.
I am starting to understand why some people refuse to discuss their Name choices with others! :-)

Thank You to everyone who has responded. It is such a beautiful name. I am going to keep all of your suggestions and discuss them with hubby.

You have restored my confidence and I'm very very tempted to keep our names to ourselves too, until little one is here.

Thanks again xx
