Well I had my little boy on Xmas Day by emergency section after over 2 days of induced labour not getting me anywhere and constant very strong contractions - ive never felt any pain like it. After being started off at 10pm on 23rd, i took a shot of pethedine on the 24th after continuous 2 minute long contractions all night made me delerious, and then the whole of xmas day with an epidural and very slow progress.

In the end it turned out that pre-eclempsia had well and truly set in and after 2-3 bags of fluid and me drinking loads over 24 hours, i hadnt passed any urine in my catheter
They decided there and then that my baby needed to be delivered quickly and i was topped up with epidural and taken for an emergency c-section, they said they would be sure to get him delivered by midnight for me, bless them - the best part of the whole experience in my opinion, all very calm and lovely people with me.

When Josh popped out at 11:37pm he was so beautiful - i'm not sure how my emotions were, i wanted to cry but couldnt, but hearing his first cry was the most fantastic music to my ears. He was handed to dad and brought over to me for a cuddle - i couldnt quite believe how he just kept looking at me - like he knew who i was, i was in awe of my little fella :)

I lost over 2 litres of blood when my uterus gave up the ghost after all the pain / tiredness but they didnt do a transfusion and of course now i became VERY aneamic with a platlet / iron level of only 7 (should be between 10-12 in a normal situation).
I had a horrid time in the ward, firstly the lady in the opposit bed kept huffing every time Josh stirred at night and then made noise every time he managed to get to sleep - i got so frustrated i begged to be moved to a private room which i would happily pay for, and luckily i got my wish. But then they kept forgetting to give me my medication (BP and Iron tablets) and i felt so alone.

By Sunday (when they originally planned to discharge me) i was totally exhausted and just wanted to go home - it took me a day of fighting for the SHU to eventually agree to me going home due to my blood levels but i am so glad i went home when i did. I had no help in hospital and home was by far the best place for me.

So, Joshua Briggs was born at 11:37pm on Xmas Day 2008 weighing a very healthy 7lb 15oz with an aphger score of 10 - he is the most lovely thing in the world and even though i had the most horrid time in hospital it was all worth it. I do think having a c section slows the bonding process slightly as it took me a few days to feel comfortable with him but 2 days of tears later (not helped by the hospital staff i must add) and all is now great.

Here is the little monster - i think he is a beauty, even though i know i am biased 8)
