Does anyone know if it's possible for your uterine lining to thicken between egg collection and embryo transfer? Collected 9 eggs on Wed, 7 fertilised. We have 5 good quality and they're transferring 1 on Monday. My lining has always been an issue (since miscarriage and use of clomid). It was only 6mm at egg collection. I'm using progesterone pessaries daily. 2 docs told me they'd thicken my lining and 2 said it will only maintain what's already there. I've been drinking loads of pomegranate juice, eating pineapple and nuts and upped my protein over the past 6 weeks (chicken, nuts, eggs). I had weekly acupuncture for 4 months. Any opinions/info would be appreciated? Thank you

Hey mina
I dont know the answer but I wanted to to let you know my FX for you and update us .. I really hope you get your BFP ..
can I ask .. was the acupuncture expensive .. Im thinking of trying it .. I want to try everything lol
Good luck bbe xxx

Progesterone will help to thicken your lining hon, but I'm not sure by how much in this time frame.

Have you been on estrogen (progynova) to thicken your lining before collection? You can also take Viagra vaginally to thicken your lining. But you would have needed to have been taking both before now.

It might be worth having a scan prior to transfer if your really worried. Studies have shown linings under 9mm at transfer don't give a good result. Can you opt to freeze and have transfer once your lining is sorted out?

Hi girls. Thanks for replying. Despite drinking pomegranate juice and eating pineapple my lining was only 5.9mm at transfer. My first BETA blood test came back somewhere in between positive and negative so I had to go back the following week when it had dropped but not enough so was back again until it dropped to 0. So basically I had a chemical pregnancy, the lining was too thin for the embryo to cling onto. I've had a bleed and started taking baby aspirin and red raspberry leaf daily. We've got to wait until March to start a frozen cycle and that's when they'll give me estrogen tablets. Fingers crossed those do the trick. We are thankful to still have 5, day 5 blastocyst embryos frozen so will just need to keep trying! I'm re-joining the gym and have booked a weekend away to try and get some life back in the meantime xx

I had acupuncture once a week for 4 months prior to IVF. It cost close to £500 in total. At the time I felt it was worth it if it would result in a BPF. In hindsight I wish I hadn't bothered. The acupuncturist knew it was my lining we were working on and after all that and him telling me it was working it still wasn't thick enough. I did have 6 excellent quality embryos though so I'll never know if that was a result of acupuncture so it might well help you, depending what you are needing x

Hi. At the time of egg collection they decided to go ahead and transfer as they have seen pregnancies with thin linings so it was "worth a try". I'm getting progynova on my frozen cycle. Do the NHS offer Viagra? My doctors have never mentioned that x

I've just realised you got your BPF!! So you won't need acupuncture anyway! Buy yourself something nice with the money you have saved 😉 Huge congratulations!! X

I don't know if the NHS offer it, as my cycles have been privately funded. Hopefully the progynova will do the trick. I was on two per day, but some ladies I cycled with were on up to 6 per day to improve their lining.

Lots of research has been done on lining and positive outcomes - if your lining is less than 9mm I wouldn't be risking ant if those lovely snow babies until they find a way to get it thicker for you.

Good luck!
