Hi guys, sorry not been on for a while. Been really busy working then been away for a week but omg!! I have suddenly exploded. None of my work clothes fit now. I have to wear maternity trousers now and my scales say I've Put on about 10lb. I'm struggling with that tbh as I've always been really strict with my weight and keep thinking right I must diet then I remember I can't!!
I'm hoping that some of it is holiday weight and will disappear with normal eating but I just feel disgusting. Loving having a bump though lol xx

Lol YEY for a bump!!
Don't worry about the weight gain, there's plenty more where that came from lol x

I feel the same - I think I'm also having a second baby in my butt by the way it is ballooning too - it very nearly needs its own postcode LOL!!

On the bright side, weight gain can help minimise stretchmarks, so keep in mind that you can shift the weight and stretch marks are not so easy to shift :D

:rotfl: a second baby in your butt... That's hilarious. I haven't gained much weight other than bump. I didn't know that weight gain can help with stretch marks. Right. I'm off to the kitchen to eat everything in sight now...

I popped very suddenly too and now I feel really big. It's scary, but you'll get used to being bigger, and it will be all worth it in the end

xx

Ooooh I can't wait to pop - although not in the bum lol xxx

Your weight gain is in the normal range for your stage in pregnancy so don't worry about it. I have put on 10-11lbs now. x

Yay a baby bump!! I have made the transition into my comfy maternity skirt and tights.... I am still squeezing into my tops but everything is more snug.

Don't worry about the weight gain hun, it is easily lost as long as you are sensible when LO is here. Just remember how much work you are doing to create this baby. The fat stores are annoying but a natural process for our breast milk to provide baby with enough vital nutrients.

xx

I've put on nearly 2 stone now!! I'm being much more sensible with my eating and everyone thinks I look like I'm all bump but I've gone up 2 dress sizes in a month :/ I started at 9 st 2 and am now nearly 11 stone. We will lose it after don't worry x

Your weight gain is very similar to mine, I started at around 9 st and got weighed the other day and was 10st 10 so put on nearly 2 stone! Glad I'm not the only one! People say I'm all bump but I do wonder how much is bump and how much is just me getting fat! x

I was just saying to my friend today, who's 10 weeks, and unhappy about putting on weight already, its all part of it and you can diet yourself silly after baby's born and also if you breastfeed then the weight will drop off!! :D It's really not worth worrying about, on average every lady puts on about 2 stone in pregnancy, its unavoidable x x

Thanks for the reassurance ladies! You always make me feel better! I'm loving being pregnant really, I think I need to stop weighing myself cos tbh I didn't think I looked that much different apart from my bump. I LOVE MY BUMP lol!!
Think I'm just scared the weight won't come off after but I guess it will! On the plus side my crazy appetite has died down at the moment ( she says whilst munching maltesers lol). :) xx

So what happens if you've put on nearly 2 stone by 5 months?! My bump is still fairly small, although big for me I guess as I had a flat stomach to start with, but I know I still have a lot of growing to do so think I'll end up with more like 3 stone weight gain. I am going to make a conscious effort to cut out refined sugar from now on as I have been eating way too much of it. I'd normally only eat 1 chocolate bar a week but for the past 2 months it's been 1 a day plus whatever else I fancy. Think that is where a lot of the extra weight has come from! Plus I've been reading articles about how bad refined sugar is in pregnancy, so I'm determined to sort myself out for baby's sake more than mine x

I have heard that between 1.5 and 2.5 stone is 'normal' wright gain. Considering I have put on nearly 2 I think I'll be closer to 3 stone too!
I've started going swimming once a Wednesday (only gentle swimming though) and am so walking to work once a week do hoping that will be enough to keep healthy!
What's the difference between refined and normal sugar? I eat chocolate every day, but did before I was preg too x x

By refined sugar I mean sugar cane..the stuff put into chocolate, cakes etc. I'm to try cutting down a lot and adding only honey, fruit etc to things to sweeten them instead. Just a little bit addicted to chocolate right now!!

It's probably not a good thing to be weighing ourselves during pregnancy, really. I think that's why midwives don't do it any more beyond your booking appointment - because it makes people paranoid about getting fat and possibly not eating properly as a result. I think that as long as you feel healthy and are eating sensibly then it's absolutely fine to gain weight. If you are planning to breastfeed, then there's really nothing to worry about at all, as you need to put on some fat stores.

All that said, I have weighed myself once during this pregnancy and then ended up online looking at how much weight I should or shouldn't be gaining. I used this one:
http://www.gurgle.com/tools/pregnancy_weight_gain_calendar/default.aspx

It tells you how much weight you should put on week by week, according to your starting weight and height. It's probably not a good thing to look too hard at these things, though. I really should take some of my own advice

I agree completely!

As a rule, I don't weigh myself at all, pregnant or not. If I'm happy with what I see in the mirror, that suits me.

But there's no point in worrying about pregnancy pounds, cuz they catch us either way lol x
