Oh so itchy!!!

Anyone else? Mine is caused by my stretch marks. I was at the cinema on Saturday night and had to sit with a bottle of water in my leggings so it could cool my skin down :oooo:!

I've got the midwife on Thursday so will see if she can offer any solutions but the last time she saw me she was a bit horrified at how bad they were given I am very good with my lotions and potions!

I've moved on from the boots sanctuary oil and collagen cream to bio oil and an aloe vera cream. The aloe stuff is great for cooling me down but I think the bio oil actually dries the stretch marks out a bit.

Mine are a bit like this but concentrated below my belly button and the one that runs down from my belly button is probably a good 2 inches wide! http://www.myhealthcarereviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Stretch-Marks.jpg

Oh hunny I feel for you. The itching is unbearable. I had no stretchmarks until about 36 weeks and now I have quite a few that have emerged since my bump had dropped. I really don't know what to suggest. Try putting a damp flannel in the fridge and drape it over your bump. Hope you feel better soon xx

I think something cool like that will be the first thing I do when I get home. Doesn't help that I sit at a desk so heat builds under my bump and then I wear tights too so that traps the heat in. On mat leave I'll probably end up in my underwear with a wet towel draped over me at this rate! x

I suffered bad with sm with my first and I'm not sure if its hormones or what, as the last two girl babies I have had, I haven't suffered with them. I would say that the only BIG difference that I can say is the amount of water I've consumed with the last two pregnancies compared to my first is massive. I still have a few weeks or so to go so they might appear in the last couple weeks but hey ho they go! I had them over the bottom of my bump quite heavy purple ones, all in my foof, all around my bikini line and down my public bone. From the bottom down and thigh up I looked a bit of a mess lol. They relaxed then went pink then eventually was left with shrivelled silver scars. A bit more promonant around my lady area but hey I'm not planning on stripping and I'm relatively proud 3rd time round that my body has done so I did loose weigh too and that helped bring the skin back a bit but I'm not toned or anything. Xx

So basically what I was trying to suggest is to up you h2o if you haven't already considered this? X

The link you posted is basically my tum in first pg! I don't think you can stop yourself getting them, it's just management of the itch. I found putting my moisturiser in the fridge and used it about 6 times a day which really, really helped. You need a hydrating moisturiser, I strongly recommend Nivea as it's apparently the closest in its make up to your skin or something. Either way it was great for my marks. Also, cold wet flannels help cool the skin and stop the itch.

Ahhh the thought of a nice bucket of ice right now!

Ema I think you're also right about the water intake. I was really good in tri 1 as I was so thirsty but my water intake has definately gone down. The water cooler is at the other end of the office and to get to it I have to walk past loads of offices and I always get stopped and asked to help with something so I've got a bad habit of sitting at my desk thirsty to avoid it! How silly is that!! x

Oh belfa this rubbish for you :-(!

I have just been lucky. I got sm as a teenager but not had any yet this pregnancy. I have been using an expensive oil by elemis - a Japanese camellia oil. It feels so good on my skin. Not greasy at all. Have used it everyday of my pregnancy since about week 8. I drink a lot of water too. But I do suffer from terrible restless itchy legs. Been using the sanctuary cooling leg gel for that and getting hubby to rub my feet!

Think the others have given good advice about putting the moisturiser in fridge. What about those cool gel pads? You could keep in fridge and pop one under your pants when sitting at your desk hehe! No one would really know!

Don't stress about the marks Tho. The ones I had years ago have practically disappeared now. Will fade with some time and some good moisturising! Xx

That's a great idea, I'd get away with a cool pack!

Should have rethought this thread title as it makes me itch looking at it lol x

Apparently cold pressed olive oil is really good too, and coconut oil is brilliant for EVERYTHING! Agree on the water intake too!! Hope they settle soon and you find some relief! Xx
