u press the brake pedal with your foot to the floor and the car carries on moving forwards

nasty ice! luckily i was only doing about 5mph pulling out of a side road, and even more lucky no cars were going past on the main road, coz i couldnt stop and stuck my nose right out!

drove like an old man the rest of the way to work, max speed 25mph!

i know if car wont START due to skidding u spose to try starting in 2nd gear, and if u skid to one side u "turn in to it" (think the opposite would be my natural reaction so lucky it hasnt happened to me!)

but no-one ever said how u stop if ur skidding on brakes? anyone know for my future reference?

Pump the break with your foot rather than keeping your foot on it.

get in the lowest gear possible i think too...

iv never skidded *touch wood* but mum did this morning

I was once knocked off my bike by a car when the driver skidded out of a junction at about 3mph. I didn't get hurt and she probably was more shocked than I was, but I've been wearing a helmet when cycling ever since and stopped cycling to work once I fell pregnant, just in case.
