Last night we went for a drive near the moors and some women was stood in the road waveing so we slowed down and there was a guy in the bushes near the wall and all these people stood round him. He must have been hit or something, his motorbike was in the road. No police or ambulance were there. Anyways we drove off slowly and another women was franticly waving to slow an idiot down so he didnt crash into the bike or there car.

I was so upset, what the hell would i do if i saw that happen and i were put in that situation where i knew i was his only help? i dont know if the group of people helping were involved in the actual accident (there car wasnt damaged) but it was really nice to see people helping.

Just made me realise how lucky i am that iv never actually been in an accident like that before.Poor guy must have been terrified, he looked in a right state.

anyone here ever helped in a situation like that?

i know how your feeling hun..

a while ago i actually saw a man get run over.. the lad who was driving was within speed limit.. they guy was a right mess on the floor.. i stopped my car and it made me feel sick at the sight, i lost my bank card at the scene and the police man rang me and kindly brought it hme, but then learnt this guy was so drunk he walked out in front of the car! my sorrys for him soon faded.. to anger..

I once saw an old man riding his bike, the car infront stopped and the poor sod smacked into the back of the car, I jumped out to help, my friends thought it was funny  told them what I though of them after that!!

I was in town last a couple of years ago when a woman fell over & whacked her head on the pavement, found out later that she suffers from MS. About 7 or 8 people stopped to help her when I went over to see if I could do anything, my Mum was with me & said I was a first aider & everyone very quickly vanished & didn't want to know 'now someone was there that knew what they were doing' (i'm hardly a qualified doctor! ) I was disgusted that no one else helped the poor woman.

Jenna, if you ever witness an accident & no one else is around, find out if the victim is ok first & in need of an ambulance. If they do dial 999 & they will assist you in treating the casualty if you don't know first aid. If its a motorcyclist, don't remove the helmet. The most important thing is to remain calm (easier said than done I know!!)

My ex's teenage daughter was involved in a car accident with some of her friends and her boyfriend.

it was August 4 years ago and a big group of teenage (17 - 19) friends had all been to a local pub sitting in the beer garden having a good time and as ex's daughter and her bf didn't drive they had to catch a lift with a friend to get home. The driver wasn't drinking but he had only just passed his test a couple of months earlier and he was going too fast on bendy roads and he hit the kerb, the car sped across the road and hit a dry stone wall which lifted the car up so high it flew over a bus stop!!! It came down on it's roof on the other side of the bus stop.......bounced off the wall and then spun on it's roof back across the road until it hit a wall on the other side then stopped.....still on it's roof!!!

My ex's daughter was sitting in middle of the back seat of the car with her bf on one side and another close friend on the other.

Both the passenger and the driver came out with nothing but a few scratches and bruises.

Very luckily for us....the force of the first impact with the drystone wall had been enough to throw the back windscreen out so that when the car turned upside down My ex's daughter was thrown out through the window.

Unfortunately her BF and her other friend on the back seat were both killed. Her friend was killed instantly when the car landed on it's roof because he was crushed. her BF died on his way to the hospital. They had both only just turned 18 a few weeks before.

I was on the scene of the accident because we only lived a mile from it and another of their friends in another car had called us to say there had been an accident. When we got there it was horrific........ how the emergency services cope with seeing those kinds of things daily is a mystery to me.

It may have been harder for us because it was people we knew but even though it was 4 years ago I can still see it all like it was last night.

The following weeks and months were so difficult. My ex's daughter had to spend a few days in hospital and had to have an operation because of injuries to her face and legs and she still has facial scars to this day but we were so thankful that she was still alive. especially when the two peopel sitting either side of her had both been killed. She was soooo lucky!!!

I just hope I never have to see anything like that again. i was heartbreaking for everyone concernced.

And for anyone who happens to still be reading all this......the driver got a four year prison sentence of which he served 1 and half and now he walking free!!!!! :x :x :x

Sorry for the long story

 Thats probably the 2nd thing i would have done after seeing if he was talking. It makes sence now but when i saw him i said to DH 'why havnt they taken the helmet off hes bright red'. My mum said my dads friend died from that, he was hit and his brain swelled up and had no where to go so his head exploded. :(

Its horrible to think how much mess can be caused just by a few seconds. it really is being in the wrong place at the wrong time :( Why people risk doing that just to get ahead of 1 car or just to beat a traffic light or something i'll never understand.

Yeah the ambulance service are great, they keep you on the phone and talk you through anything that they need you to check or do. They are also good at calming you down when having a panic attack

nope, witnessed one but cause i was a schoolgirl they werent really believeing what i was saying that i saw.

ive been in a car crash but we was only going about 10mph was not car behind us but one behind him he had been drinking i could smell it and he went in to one behind us and he went into us. cause the cars done a sudden stop heard screeching and i knew and my dad knew we was gonna get hi but nothing major cause the car we was in the bumper took all the impact anyway :)

Just a couple of months ago actually. We live right on a tight bend of a country road and there is a lot of horses that go past as its the only access to the farm and livery at the end of the road.

Anyway we always crawl round that corner as its a blind turn, but theres this dick up the road who tears round it with his stereo really loud.

He was in front of us as we came up the road, and by the time we got round the bend we found a panicking horse and a young girl on her back - the car before us had spooked the horse and she was thrown off.

We were first on the scene as the dick in the car had just carried on, and luckily I am a first aider so knew what to do and sent OH in the house to fetch a blanket and call an ambulance while I calmed her down and checked her over. Eventually other people showed up including her mum, and after about 20 mins the ambulance showed.

I heard recently that she had damaged her kidney in the fall

GGG thats awful  Lucky you were there at the time, its makes you wonder though doesnt it. If you werent there what could have happened to her? Must make you feel really good knowing you saved someone.

I think iv only ever helped some one once and it was very brief but i do feel pretty good about it. I were stood outside a shop with my dog while my sister went in and an old women walked out and didnt notice the step and slipped. She banged her head on it and blood was everywhere (iv never seen anything like that in my life!!) I went over and asked if she was ok and she said 'yeah im ok just a little bump' and tried walking off. I talked her into sitting down and got the shop owner to call an ambulance. Obviestly some one else took over, i was only about 12 at the time. Imagine if i wasnt there, no one else saw it happen, she could have just walked off. (and probably died, the amount of blood was unbeliveable!!)

a few years ago on a dark, very wet evening we saw a car flip over, a man fell out and the car landed on him it looked like. then when it was stopped upside down a girl climbed out and staggered into the side of the road. it was chilling. we couldnt do anything as we were on the other side of the dual carriageway and our side was quite heavy traffic as it was coming out of town on a workday eve. but cars on the other side stopped and one guy was running up and down the centre bit waving his arms frantically. i dont kno whether the guy died or not. its likely if the car did land on him. :(
