Irregular periods after birth - on mini pill

Hi guys, I went on minipill at 7 wks PP and 3 wks later had my first period, so was thinking great the tablets r working...then it lasted almost two weeks - again thought well mayb cos its the first lol, only heavy for a week though...then a week after that tailed off ive been having yellowish discharge and today looks like the start of my period again...sigh...thing is need to book my smear test next month but dont know when ill be 'off' ....anyone else have this with the mini pill?

Mine stopped completely when I was on the mini pill after having my eldest. It is a common side effect to cause irregular bleeding or no bleeding at all.

Yes, I had irregular bleeding after re-starting the mini pill. When I first took it (prior to my first pregnancy) my periods stopped completely, so it was a shock when I restarted them after pregnancy and it had a completely different effect. I needed a smear too - I actually came off the pill in order to have the smear as I bled on and off almost constantly and I was overdue my test. Never bothered going back on it as it was too unpredictable.

Which one are you on? I think I had about 3 periods in a year on it. Being on the mini pill really messed me up so would never go on it again as could have contributed towards the problems I had conceiving.

I was on noriday mini pill before Ttc and it stopped my periods completely. I've been back on it 4 days now so hopefully they stop again, does seem to be either you bleed more or never. Only contraceptive that agrees with me tho hope things sort themselves out for you xx

lucyboo, no I spellt it right - Cerelle...I have another couple of wks til end of current packet and may consider coming off it then as we dont really need it for the contraceptive aspect as we're very sporadic but careful atm but wanted it for regularity...looks like i'll be more regular off it lol...

You need to give it about 3-4 months to start seeing the changes.. With all contraceptives really...

Ah it's not the exact one I was on which could be a good thing as the one I took has a lot about coming out your system after, good luck x
