iron and vits help

Were any of your LO's discharged with iron and vits. Well we were and now Holly constantly spits them out when we try to give her them with the syringe. I don't suppose there is a magic solution, but I thought I would ask just in case someone does have some tips.

Adele was disharged with multi vits and folic acid because she was prem, and she refused to take them and i tasted them and they are horrible very bitter taste, so we just put them in her bottle that way she would get them

Check with your pharmacist or consultant if you can add them to milk (or food when they wean).

Damien had meds for a long time but now refuses to take anything from a syringe. Due to the nature of them he can't have them in milk so we have to pin him down to make him take them! and make sure he doesn't gurgle it out (his latest trick)

thats what i do when i give Dior madicine

i hold her down krs holds her hands and when she crys i squirt it in then blow in her face to mke her swallow

Abi had vits and iron we used to put iy in her milk, we stopped the iron though after 2 weeks as she was constipated, she;s been fine since

we'v got mutli vitimins for madi, she takes it ok but they told us if she wont take it to put it in her milk but to make sure she finishes the whole bottle which isnt always as easy as they make out lol.

i find if i put the syringe further into her mouth (like the length of a teat) she doesnt spill a drop, it sort of squirts straight down her throat but we have to do it really slow

Those vits stink lol, god knows how she can drink the stuff

we just used to make up a litle bottle with an ounce in it as i was breast feeding, but even when i changed to formula we made a little one up for the vits then when that had gone give her the rest of the milk from different bottle

when i put them into Adeles bottle i would make a seperate bottle with only 2oz to makesure she would take the full 2oz with her med in it then top her up after she finnished that one

emmas on vits, iron and folic acid and what we do is get a spare teat and squirt it into that then there is no risk if she doesnt take all her bottle of her not getting her dosage. hope that helps
