Injection to deliver placenta?

Redheads lose more blood?? really .. ive never heard that before thats so weird !! :)

Yeah, we can do.
A few different midwives and doctors have said this to me. Not really sure of the reasons why though.
That being said I've never had any problems!

I had the injection and my placenta came away with no pain and all in one piece xx

We're also more prone to tearing than other women too. My mw was shocked that I didn't need stitches cuz I'm a red head x

I didn't have the injection... Just lots of skin to skin and didn't have an issue with delivering the placenta or blood loss...

So I think its rushed in hospital (like it was with my first) to get it all over and done with rather than leave cord until its finished pulsating.

I had a hospital birth and they waited til the cord finished pulsating before they cut it. We were actually told at our antenatal classes that its policy now (as of 1st June) to leave the cord til its finished pulsating before its cut.

My first is 5 and a 1/2 so different hospital policy back then I would have thought and unfortunately that hosp isn't know for the best care. Which is why I use an independent midwife and now have homebirths and avoid NHS as much as I can.

I had the injections and didn't even know I had delivered the placenta lol it was that quick x

I had the injection because they recommended I did due to the meconium and tearing I had which meant I was losing a lot of blood anyway. I didn't feel the placenta come out, it just kinda slithered out!!

I opted in cause i had interventions ie ventouse. Glad i did, still lost quite a bit of blood

Tapatalking so cant see signatures

I had it too, and didn't notice it coming out - only knew it had because I spied the Dr moving it to the bowl thing (and OH saying eww haha).

I had the injection and it was all over and done with before I really knew, wasn't sore at all. And iv not had any problems with bleeding. Mine came whole aswell...! Seen it in the bowl too.

I actually asked to see mine afterwards!

i couldn't have stomached that! I know its natural but im so bad with any blood! The blood i did see made me feel ill lol im a wuss x

I saw mine in the tray and was shocked at how big it was lol x

I don't even know if I had the injection

I didn't realise the natal hypnotherapy recommends not to have it either? I must have missed that bit. though I guess it fits with minimal intervention.

Damn my baby's birth. I am very grateful she is here and well but I am so hoping for a better experience next time.

I would have had no problem having it though tbh. Excess blood loss can dictate that you have to have the clexane injections and they are a pain

I had it and I had to stay on the delivery stool to do it they wouldn't let me move.

I wanted the cord to stop pulsing before it was cut but baby had problems breathing so was taken away pretty quickly which means cord was cut pretty much straight away.

It was massive, I remember thinking no wonder I couldn't feel the baby much lol, and it looked like Liver...

I also had to agree to the injection so as to have baby in the birthing centre instead of the hospital because I was 1 point over the BMI recommendation.

I don't know if I had the painkillers either. If I had to guess I'd say I probably did as I felt next to no pain for a few days afterwards.

I was hooked up to some drip for something too, I have no idea what that was for.

I've just asked OH about the placenta and he said he didn't know either, he was watching the baby being resuscitated :(

I had ibuprofen up me bum was weird....to help with the pain of the stitches..
