Morning ladies,

I am being induced tomorrow at 3pm. Mainly due to the risk of pre-eclampsia. Everything is actually fine at the moment but they did not want me to go more than a week overdue. They plan to use prostaglandin gel but I have agreed to the drip if things take a while. I have fibromyalgia so a quick birth is going to be better due to the fatigue I live with. The hospital are aware of this.

I have been having a look at the leaflet they gave me which doesn't really explain how long it could take.

I understand these things are different for everyone but I was wondering how long some of you lovelies were kept in for.

If they start me off Wednesday night, is it feasible I could be home by the weekend? I am trying to plan when to have people over. Some family have a little way to come and I am being asked when they should arrive. I don't want to have people here for ages or have them come and stay with other family as I am not planning on having people over for very long. I don't really like gatherings and I am very antisocial lol!

Also MIL is going on holiday next week and she is worrying about not seeing us before she goes.

Thanks all.

I think it's quite possible for you to be home by the weekend. I went in for induction on the Saturday and had Blake by emergency section on the Monday morning. I came home on the Tuesday- because I needed some sleep!

Good luck- some people have a great labour when induced x

Thank you. I am hoping it is straight forward and I can come home asap. I really don't want to have to hang around there if I am OK and can come home.

Hi hun, I too have fibromyalgia. I was induced due to gestational diabetes I went in on the tue morn n had him wed Just before 3am n was Home by Thursday lunchtime.

Fab news thanks Michelle. How did you find the birth? I am worried I might go in to one of my weird brainless states and just be useless! x

I went into labour on the Sunday night, was in early labour at home for 36h. Went to hospital on Tuesday morning, stalled at 7cm, put on the drip Tuesday evening. Had baby an hour in to Wednesday and was home Thursday afternoon!

Lets hope I can get home for Friday night then! I want a nice evening with my boys at home and not stuck on the ward. DH has already started saying he won't know what to do with himself. It must be awful to have to leave your wife and new baby at the hospital and come home alone. All that waiting and then yet more waiting alone until we all are home together.

I hope my LO comes out, perfect, has a good scream and good feed and I can get going!

The daughter of a lady my mum works with had her baby 2 weeks early (not fair!) at 7pm yesterday, home by 10:30pm! She weighed 5lb odd! So lets hope we are all just as lucky!

I went in 11am on the Sunday and was home Tuesday tea time ! X

I went in 9am Tuesday, induced at 13.30, had Harper by 18.54 and was home by lunch time on the Wednesday. Hope yours goes well xx

Hi,

I have chronic fatigue syndrome, I know it's different but similar with regards to exhaustion and pain as far as I know. My waters went on their own at 11am on a Monday but labour didn't progress. I was given the gel the next day at 12 noon and not much happened really so I was put on the drip at 7pm and my daughter was born at 11:46pm that night. We went home on the Thursday morning (should have been the Wednesday but midwife mistakenly thought she detected a hole in my daughters heart). So had I not had the irritating (i know caution is good but it still gets to me after 2 years!) midwife I'd have been home around 10 hours after birth.

Good luck, I hope everything goes perfectly and you have a wonderful experience xxx

Hi hun hope all is going well, I found that I didn't even know I was having contractions till they got very strong at the end n that was because he was ready to b born there n then!! That hurt as had no pain relief but have to say my body took over n it was over pretty quick. I was proud of my body n all it went through. For me the fibromyalgia pain came back after a few months n that's been tough. Hope u r doing ok n get Home soon.

Hope all went ok. I went for my induction on a saturday morning expecting nothing to start happening until some time on the Sunday but by midday it had well and truly kicked off just from the one pessary! Couldn't believe it. Baby was born early hours of sunday morning and I think if he hadn't been poorly when he was born (we were in for 2 weeks after the birth - ugh!!) we'd have been out later that day, so hope you're done and out soon :) xx
