in agony with toothache

Morning ladies.

For the past few days I've had constant toothache paracetemol isn't touching it I've had no sleep it's constant and won't go I feel sick drained tired from no sleep I have 3 children look after youngest being 8 months. I'm struggling so bad


I'm ringing emergency dentist today see if it's open and if so can I be seen but I'm concerned that a few years ago I had a miscarriage a few days before I had a filling he told me it was safe but then I miscarried I'm not sure if it's the injection or just a coincidence.

So i dont want the injection but I can't cope with this toothache and I don't want risk another miscarriage.

has anyone had a tooth out without numbing it arghhh I can't cope with the pain 😥😥😥😥 xxx

I'm kind of hoping it's infected and can have antibiotics if safe and have it removed as soon as im in 2nd tri x

How awful, toothache is bad at the best of times
I went with my sister who had her tooth out without anaesthetic. She jyst felt a lot of pressure.

Codeine can be used with go ahead from docs. What about a hot water bottle or cold compress?

Tri 2 is when they like doing stuff
Baby is formed by then
Tri 3 is more faffy in terms of they can lie mum flat on her back etc
They dont like drilling fillings in pregnancy generally as the risk of releasing mercury into the bloodstream
But tri 2 is best time for you to go x

I've had dental work in my 2nd and 3rd trimester with the injection with no problems with my previous pregnancies I'm happy to wait until 2nd tri but if I can stop the pain I am only 6 weeks so it is a long time to wait with pain. I've got ring dental advise line at 9 so hoping I get an appointment today and I'll see if the dentist is able do anything. My tooth needs coming out to be honest as I've been told this before but if I can have a temp filling stop the pain with no injection today to hopefully stop the pain have it out in 2nd tri I'd do that.

It's horrendous 😦😦 I hate labour pains lol but I prefer that then toothache. Xx

I'm crying in pain it's affecting me with my children they won't see me today !!! Cause I've got no swelling

hey ah no you poor thing!! i can relate to this i had my tooth extracted on monday and had the numbing injections!!! and i found out i was pregnant on Thursday so i think you will be fine! phone them back and explain you are in alot of pain you will be seen! i was on a/b also week before last and the g.p reasurred me its ok.

Apparently they're more strict with it being bank holiday weekend she's told me ask the pharmacist about paramol I already know how strict they are about tablets when pregnant arghhh! !! Just ringing again try speak to someone else !! Xx

They should be able to put a temp dressing in it or antibiotics no bother hon, depending what the problem is obviously. I had treatment in Tri 1 no bother, must depend on the dentist.

Hi, I am a dental nurse. You can take paracetemol at normal dose, so I would try that today, also some hot salty mouth rinses may help. If it gets unbearable I would either call 111(nhs direct) and see if they can get you in at a different practice in your area or go to a&e. A dentist would not take out a tooth with out numbing, but they can sometimes open up a tooth and place a temp filling without numbing, can be painful though.
There is a local anaesethic called citanest that shouldnt be used in pregnancy as it contains oxytocin that can start of contractions - I think there have not been enough studies to check if such a small amount can cause issues in early pregnancy. There is a antibiotic that you can take during pregnancy so you probably need a prescription. x

Have u looked at orajel? I've just tried googling the use in pregnancy and it seems to be ok but you'd need to speak to pharmacist first. It's amazing stuff that will numb your tooth completely x

thanks so so much. I keep taking paracetemol but it's not helping I've been see a pharmacist without seeing a doctor I can't have anything stronger ill phone back tomorrow the advise line I hope I can get seen so bad nhs give me a number for a dentist 15 miles from me but couldn't get me in.

my ex partner seems to think it's funny I'm in so much couldn't even help stop my daughter from crying when I was on the phone to nhs arghh. Xx

I am in so much pain I don't know what do with myself. I feel sick I keep going cold I've got horrendous stomach ache and toothache.

Thanks emma I will have to ask a pharmacist tomorrow now typically. My local one is shut one of my children are in bed my other 2 are still up.

I only have my dad to ask if he would take me the chemist another one but I've no one to watch my children and I don't want anyone know I am pregnant yet I've had so many earful not to have more children I got told no more after my 2nd cause I had a boy and girl. I really don't want the ear ache.

I've got toothache both sides of my mouth at the bottom I know one of them needs removing but the other side I don't know it just kills. I feel so so so ill I've not felt right for a few days. Toothache is definitely not helping. I'm going beg to be seen tomorrow I can't stop crying it hurts

I sound so pathetic I know sorry but I'm drained tired in agony x

That's where I rang to today. She wouldn't let me have an appointment because I've got no swelling. I don't know what do with myself paracetemol not touched the pain I've got nothing else I don't know what do with myself I can't cope another day or night I'm so so tired it's affecting me with my children
