Hi girls!

Daniel has been diagnosed with Impetigo. Have no idea where he caught it, probably in the swimming pool.

Anyways, he is on atnibiotics cream and has to have antibiotic syrup.

His face look pretty awful, but the good thing is, that he doesnt seems to be bothered.

Did anyones LO had it and how long did it take to clear up?

Hiya

Its a really common infection in kids and takes a few days to clear up. He wont have necessarily caught it from anywhere as it can appear from scratching constantly over one bit of skin if he reacted to soap powder or eczema or had an insect bite, it can come on from loads of things apparently but is really contagious so quite possible he got it from swimming.

Glad it isnt bothering him though

oh poor thing! impetigo usually clears up in a week to 10 days with treatment and you should start to see an improvement in the next 2 days :)

be careful though as it is HIGHLY! infectious so be careful about towels, flannels etc etc

hope he feels better soon

I got it a few years ago.... it was horrible... and it spread so fast, its highly contagious, oh and it itched so much it made me cry. Make sure that bed clothes, towels etc are regularly cleaned and not shared. It causes little blisters that fill with a clear fluid, the blisters itch like crazy, they are scratched, the fluid leaks out onto the hands, the hands touch another part of the body or person, and the impetigo is spread.

Once the treatment starts (I had to clean the sores with antibacterial pads and then apply a thick gel to them three times a day) it only takes a couple of weeks to fully clear up. But once you've had it once you are more susceptible to future infections

poor thing

his poor face looks so awful

and i am feeling so sorry for him. probably more sorry then he feels fior himself :)

he has to take antibiotics and i am worried that they will do some damage

I had it about 5years ago. Its sooo infectious though! Make sure he washes his hands lots, always use fresh towels and flannels never the same one twice. I was given a cream and It cleared up after about a week. From what I knew of it I caught it because I had a cold and the infection usually comes from the nasty up your nose so your nose runs and then it just spreads like mad because your wiping it and the tissue touches a different area and it goes there as well. hope he feels better soon xx
