I have a phobia of needles - so when I have a blood test done, I take oh with me, as he can hold me down and give me someone to scream/cry/swear etc... into whilst they are taking the blood. Today I went on my own to have my daily trace done on LO but didn't realise they where going to take bloods as well (I had just had some taken yesterday).
I was all brave and let the midwife on the ward do her thing without freaking out and apart from some shaking I was fine! But she was unable to get to the vein because it was too deep, so I had to go the blood thingy where they normally draw bloods. I got there, sat nice and quiet, and she managed to hit a vein.
Afterwards, the nurse said I had gone white, and just started sobbing my heart out! Its sad, but I think I was quite proud of myself!
Its not an overly interesting story I know, but I needed to share that with someone. Its sad, but I was really pleased with myself! First and only time I have ever walked out of the hospital after a blood test with a huge grin on my face!
