Was playing a zooming round the moon game other day with 16 month old and tripped over my husband ( who was moving so we didn't stand on his poorly foot might I add) we fell bad I've really hurt my knee, did my very best to save baby but as we came to floor he hit head on a toy garage! He only cried a little no big bump just a red mark little raised and it turned into a bruise! We were in shock but hubby said didn't need to go a & e and bab be ok which he was, the following morning everything was normal but he wasnt walking! Worried sick I take him to docs who tells me I should have took him yday (even tho wasn't open) did a full body search for bruises, asked if he was child protection list? Exactly what had happened and them suggested we see a pedeatric team! BUT little on absolutely fine he hadn't got any concusuon etc and was walking within an hour! I'm devestated to be treat like this and just don't know what I've done wrong?

Seems a little OTT my dad dropped me on my head when I was a baby and I had concussion the doc thought it was hilarious!

You've done nothing wrong! Doctors just have to be over cautious now and so it can sometimes seem a bit over the top to us but I guess it's better that they're over cautious in case they were to miss something that really did need seeing to.

Glad he's all better now though. Accidents happen and I'm sure there's many more bumps to come :)

Yes I know keep telling myself it only there job and they have to but also asked if when I went to see health visitor she thought everything was ok? Why I'm so cross and upset are 2 things (besides being judged) I still don't think he needed a and e (and he didn't) yet that's what she's concerned about and also why on earth if we were harming him would I have taken him in first place?? Or tell her if health visitor thought everything was ok? X

The safety culture we live in now a days just makes things worse I think! Sophie banged her head a month ago or so and no bruise came up at all and I just kept an really close eye on her but the thought of me taking her to a&e made me feel sick and what if they accused me of hurting her on purpose :(

Seems really ott to me - I thought it was 4 trips to a+e that was supposed to trigger alarms? Rest assured your lo will have forgotten all about it!!

WTF, that's a bit of an overreaction from the doc! I know they have to be cautious but still! With the a&e thing, they write to the hv after every visit and then after 3 I think it is, hv will contact you! We had visit #5 in 4 months the other week  makes me glad that we've been to lots of groups and had regular hv contact so they know what sort of s child she is!

Back in dec i closed the door on los thumb, horrific! I was so upset and a&e treated us awfully! We had a letter sent to the gp informing them of the 'incident' and loads of questions asked re social services etc etc and he has a full body search naked ..... It was awful!

A few weeks ago lo banged and cut his head on the door, needless to say i didnt take him to a&e but to a friend who was first aid trained and kept our eye on him. Its awful that as mothers, toddlers especially are bound to trip and fall etc, but i personally feel like i cant take him to a&e without being judged...... You hear so many storied of los getting wrongly removed from their parents etc etc... Its awful

Hope lo is ok! Xx

Thanks girls I've managed to calm down a little but I am devestated! He's totally fine bless him and thanks! Totally agree what u girls said about not going, I for one would be terrified to go again! To be treat like this and this is honestly the first time we ever been with a bump!!! And we get this? I wouldn't mind but honestly hardly anything there! X

Oh and terrible we been picked on we havnt even been to a and e well apparently that's the prob!! Can anyone tell me what HV will say do? X

Hv will proabably do nothing and may not even mention it at your next visit !!
I had an appointment bout 18 mths ago with the dr and had to take the kids Kian had a bruise on his cheek from nursery and the dr made a big thing bout me contacting child protection bout it !! Best thing is the kids god father is a child protection police officer !! Anyway said I would and went home ( it was a sat so said I would phone on mon) tea time we get a phone call from social services !!!! The dr had phone them ! Was so cross !! Had filled in paperwork etc at the nursery cos it had happened there our friend had seen the bruise and hadn't raised concerns !! And social services were fine bout it too !! Xxx

Bloody hell! This is all scary stuff! Thanks for sharing so I know I'm not alone xx

Hv most likely won't do anything, ours rang and just said theyve been notified of a few visits and was everything ok! I was actually quite glad they called as it opened the doors for me to ring and get some support due to ellas "ways"! I know it's horrible to be accused, but when you look at it from the other side, if they didnt do anything and a child skilled thru the net, we'd all be up in arms about that too! xx

That's awful! My friends toddler cut his foot bad do they went to a &e with him, a few days later social services turned up at the door  they just never seem to get it right! X

Totally agree about them not getting it right! But hey while others are getting wrong well take blame for them! X
Totally agree about kids slipping thru net and they have to be careful etc but his first bump in 16 months and I still don't get why I'd take him in first place if we had dun it, it was under his hair!!! X
