Two girls I know have had babies this month, one last week and one last night - when I asked the first one about the labour she said she didn't want to say anything cause she doesn't want to scare me! Then the other from lastnight just said it is 'very very very painful' and that the blood vessels in her face have popped from the pushing! Then I was on facebook just there and Shauna posted that she has never been in so much pain in all of her life  Ahhhh!! I'm so desperate to meet him but I am now terrified lol!

If it helps a girl I know had her baby tuesday morning and she said yehh it's intense but she put it at a 4/10.... So not too bad really :) xx

Ohhh 4/10?! That doesn't sound too bad atall :) xxx

Nope, I guess it's down to each individuals pain threshold :) And she was in labour for 24 hrs  xx

dont worry about it hun, its down to how you perceive pain, which is very individual, and a lot of girls on here who say theyre usually bad with pain were fine with labour. I think 'pain' is the closest word for the feeling but its not exactly the same as pain you normally think of experiencing.

And I think your friend was trying to scare you by being miss mystery about it all! Youre only going to imagine it much worse than it actually is when she says that! Its the most amazing thing youre ever going to do in your whole life! :yay: you will be just so proud of yourself once youve done it!

Thanks tiny, you've made me feel a bit better :) I suppose alot of it is fear of the unknown, now knowing how it will go, how long it will last etc.. My mum didn't have any pain relief with me, my brother or sister and her longest labour was just under 5 hours! So hopefully I follow in her footsteps lol ;)

Yeah the friend who said it was very painful was just being honest I suppose, she did say it was really painful but also a bearable pain though because she knew she would have her baby in her arms in the end! I think your right about my friend who just said she didn't want to scare me - obviously that is going to make me worry more!!

I just need to keep telling myself that it's all gonna be soooo worth it in the end, I remember someone on here saying just to think to yourself 'every push is one push closer to meeting your baby' I think that's a good way of thinking of it :) xxx

I didnt have a natural birth but when I was in labour, I actually enjoyed it, yup call the men in white coats!!! It was really intense but contractions go as quick as they start, imagine it like a wave, you know you watch them and they grow and grow then all of a sudden they break and theyve disappeared. Literally its completely gone afterwards. I think thats what makes labour bearable, I got a rush at the end of every contraction, I was so proud of myself! I used to imagine when my womb was tightening that it was pulling my cervix open a little bit more and I got so excited to meet LO.

Hahaha it's horrrrrible n I think being run over would of hurt less!!!! Butt u just do it n b4 u no it ur babys here

I'm on my second n could have just had a section (which cuts all that pain out) but I've chose to have a normal delivery so there is defo some reason we do it again x

Try not to panic over it u will be fine x x

A section is more painful, just for the record

Honestly, just breath through them and try not to tense and it'll go quickly. Or at least hopefully it will. Poor flopsy :( As soon as its over youll want to do it again!

agreed, bloomin agony ^^

if youve got some time try and get Ina May Gaskins guide to childbirth from your library. It will fill you with confidence and excitement about the birth :yay:

my sister said that she found the sharp stabbing pains in foof that we all keep talking about was worse than labour and she is a wimp. xxx

Might try that book tiny :) give me something to keep me busy before he arrives too!

nmf its so weird how some people find labour sooooo painful and others say it's not really that bad lol, people who are usually wimps seem to cope well with labour - hope i'm like that  xxx

I honestly dont think its that bad, i suppose it depends on your pain threshold obviously but i really enjoyed being in labour with my daughter, i think the main thing is to keep an open mind on everything including pain relief. I remember being in terrible pain from contractions and managed to get to 6cm before asking for the epidural and it was absolute bliss from then on. Will definately be having one again this time if i can!

I've heard a few people saying that the epidural was great! It was something I really didn't want to begin with, the thought of the needle in the back gave me the heebys  but maybe I'm better to just see what happens xxx

I'm just trying I keep in my head that the pain will be for a fixed period of time ! And that it's just pain! ( will prob change this opinion when in labour Tehe !) if I can get through on just gas an air and me and baby are fine they said they aim to get you put of hosp from 2 - 6 hours Whig I'd low as I don wanna be left on my own I want my fella there! X

Awww hun i didn't mean to scare you. Everyone is different and everyones labour is different. If you can't manage ask for an epidural early so they know. You will be great i bet!!! xxx

No no don't be silly :) I didn't mean it in a bad way hun! I just had one of those days when it hits you that your actually going to need to get this baby out  some days I'm terrified and others I can't wait! Strangeeee :oooo:

How are you and Lacey getting on?? xxx

With the epidural don't worry about the needle in your back. At the time of getting it you won't care. I found labour painful but I was getting myself in a state cos the hospitalwouldn't believe how far in labour I was and when they finally did examine me I was 5cm so was taken straight to labour suite, once I knew this, a big relief came over me and although it was painful it was good knowing I was progressing.
If your struggling to cope with the pain don't be scared about the epidural, once it's in, it is bliss to not feel anything! X

theres a thread about peoples experineces of epidurals somewhere.
