.. are you telling family and friends? Or keeping it a secret?

We decided we initially wanted to find out at our 20 week scan but wanted to keep it a surprise for everyone else. Since finding out on Wednesday we have decided to tell everyone else that LO was 'shy and wouldn't flash its bits' just so people wouldn't be trying to pick up on any slipups we make. Also because I am so forgetful now, OH says I'm bound to say 'he' or 'our son' without thinking  It has now been three days and he has slipped up at least once in front of his sister, but thinks he has gotten away with it  So far I'm doing really well but we can't work out whether people believe us about not having found out. I feel very devious but I really want to surprise everyone after the birth. Most family members think we are having a girl but Oscar will be my parents first grandson and I know my Dad will be really pleased :D

Anyone else stuck in a web of deceit (of their own making)? :D

The only person who doesn't know is my Grandad so around him we have to call her "IT"!!

He didn't want to know (but he's totally besotted with little girls because most of his grankids are boys!) so we've kept it a suprise for him!

My sister found out but didnt tell us I was pretty sure she knew and that it was a boy after she made a few slip ups her biggest mistake I think is saying even if we knew we wouldn't tell you which to me ment they knew but I wasn't 100% sure I was right so there was still the sense of what is it when my nephew arrived!

We were planning on finding out but keeping it quiet I would love to be able to do this but I just know it would be impossible we want to go pink or blue shopping on our holiday is we manage to find out and we're going with his mum who doesn't want to know unless we're telling everyone shes useless with secrets and told everyone about me being pregnant when she knew we didn't want people to know so no chance of just telling her and it still being a secret so think we will tell everyone but I want to tell people face to face because I live away from them and didn't get to tell them I was pregnant face to face so will be a month of trying to keep it quiet before I can spill the beans that will be impossible enough!!!

We are finding out and telling everybody, they are all as excited as we are about finding out the sex, first grandchild and all so we wont keep them in suspense!

Thanks for the replies :D

Bumpyride, I hope no one else spoils the surprise for your Grandad :)

Penstraze good luck with your month of keeping it quiet :D

nw1, aww the first grandchild, no wonder they are desperate to know :)

They've been good for the past 20 weeks! they've only got a fortnight to keep their mouths shut!

My OH is an only child and my sis has downs syndrome so we are the only way they will get grandchildren if you know what i mean so even more special!

My sis (aged 26) cant wait to be an Aunty its lovely, she is bursting to know what we are having so i couldnt not tell her!

we told my parents, brother and sister (plus her partner) the day we found out. i couldnt keep it from them as they were as excited about it as us. OH has told his gran but thats all we PLANNED to tell.

since then iv accidently blurted out "her" and "she" during the DVD when i show people, so an extra 2 people know

iv now learned to not speak during the DVD in case i shout out "oh thats her legs"

We have told everybody apart from FIL who didn't want to know but I bet he does know with the slip ups everyone makes!!, we were too excited not too :D We are keeping the name a secret from everyone other than close family so that will be a little surprise for them at the end. It's amazing how many people are desperate to know the name though :D

Xxx

We weren't going to find out.

We caved.

We weren't going to tell anyone.

We forgot, we were that excited. Oh well.

Tadpole  I know what you mean, I'm bursting to tell everyone but I like him being our little secret :D

Lindsay, if we had told everyone the gender, I'm sure we'd be getting bugged about our name thoughts too :)

lillou, I know I am going to say something like that too. My Dad has been calling him 'her' and I joined in without thinking the other day  My OH asked if I was creating a smoke screen :D

id love to do what you're doing but i think id slip up too much. plus ive already had loads of people say do u know the sex yet  . so i think id have people trying to guess all the time which would annoy me

I've also started referring to her as 'her' all the time now as in my head she is my little girl already. There's no way I wouldn't slip up. Certainly not with my pregnancy brain problems!

Oh God, I'm forever saying "Evie's kicking away" and "when Evie's older" so there is absolutely zilch chance that I could have kept this quiet!!

Plus, all her clothes and stuff are taking up my wardrobe  She's got more clothes than mummy already! And shoes! Blimey, the amount of shoes she's got rivals Mariah Carey... Anyway, so with all that pink leaking out of my bedroom, I couldn't have kept it quiet ! xx

Aww, I'm sure it won't be long before I slip up really badly :)

Claire have you found out when your scan is yet?

Tadpole, I think my preggie brain is going to be my undoing

Dannii, lol Evie is going to look so cute in all her pink stuff :D I need to get started on the shoe shopping for Oscar, especially now Miss Monroe has told me about shoo shoos :D (I like these but I want to find them at a better price) :D

Aww they're soo cute!! I love booties :D I can;t wait til Xmas when I can buy booties for her and little winter hats! xx

we're not planning on finding out the sex at our next scan & people already pick up on when we say "he" or "she" but we just tell them its a slip of the tongue & we dont want to say "it" all the time then they back off :D in a way i hope the sex doesnt show when we go as part of me wants to know & the other part wants a suprise so not being able to tell will help me!

We're finding out the sex and will be telling people yes, it's the name we don't share until after birth :D Hav fun keeping it a secret, sounds like fun, I would say I knew, let them keep guessing and slip up with a he and a she every now and then

no :( im going to ring up tomorrow morning and demand they tell me  love the lil shoes btw :)

we're not going to find out and I know if I did I'd be useless at keeping it a secret. We've already chosen the names but I don't want anyone to know them until baby is born either!
