I lost my envolope for sure start maternity grant I won't be able to get another one till Friday I know the rules change in April and was woundering if anyone has the address so I can send it off if anyone in Yorkshire knows what address it is presuming they have different offices it goes to in each county :s Thanks in advance

Sorry don't know the address but you have till 11th April before the change to first child only comes in so you should be ok. The good news is mine and Pinkymum's were processed and money in bank within a week! xx Not sure why you have to wait till Friday for another envelope??? Ring your jobcentre and ask them to post you one out, should be with you by Tues or Weds! xx

thanks i ant get to the jobentre till friday lol no money till the so i was just going to get an enelop from the post offices

yeah i would of thought thats what happens to ive been a bit late with things at the mo lol ive only just started getting things in for her lol ive so left it till the last minute too lol

i think you fall to claim if your claiming IC JC IESA Working tax credits childbenifit at a rate higher than the family element

you need help with buying things for baby which:-
has been born

is expeted to b born in the next 11 weeks

you have recently adopted

or is subjet to a residence order

or is subject to parental order under the act of human fertalisation and embrolgy act 1990

you wont get it the rules have changed if you have a child in the house already that is under 16 then unless you give birth or are due before the 11th april you are not entiltled to it the changes came into place 24th january even though your past 29 weeks now it does not make no difference unless your due before the 11th

The rules for Sure Start Maternity Grant have changed for babies that are:

• due on or after 11 April 2011
• born on or after 11 April 2011
• adopted or in similar arrangements on or after 11 April 2011

The rules for your new baby and any other babies born at the same time

You can only get a Sure Start Maternity Grant if there are no other children under 16 years in your family.
The rules for your dependent child’s new baby and any other babies born at the same time

You can only get a Sure Start Maternity Grant if your dependant is under 20 years and has no other children.

Is this your first baby? If so you should get it. If its your second I don't think you will.

nope because you have a child already i thought to begin with so long as you reach 29 weeks before 11th it would be ok but this isnt the case they changed the rules at the end of january exactly 11 weeks before the 11th april so that women with a child already cant claim it i rang them to ask they said it doesnt matter that ive already reached 29 weeks before the 11th april

so basically if you already have a child under 16 unless your baby is born before the 11th april you will not get it i feel sorry for the women with a due date of the 12th

I think so CHerelle, if you're not on the benefit now you won't be able to apply till you are. I'm sure there's been some other girls on here who have had to wait until after baby was born to apply as well.

it doesnt change till aprill the 11th for that the stopped health in pregnancy in january rules dont apply till april it tells you on the website and my sure start up the road sed that as long as your 29 weeks b4 april and its your second child or more you still qualify

Its true hun unless your child is due on or before the 11th April you can not claim for a child if you already have a child living with you.

I have phoned and asked for this to be clarified as i was told by my lone parent adviser to apply and see what happens as there is such a big age gap between children and i didnt claim for my first child.

its a bit weird for me though coz my consultant sed that i might have to deleiver my baby early as she was measuring a little small at my last scan it all depends on what the scan says a week on monday luckly my boyfriends dad bought amy a new cot bed and furniture so ive gt amy cot for bubs and a moses basket and a few clothes but still need to get a new matress for both cot and cotbed and a double pushchair if i dont get the grant it looks like ill have to aply for a community care grant or something just to get the pram and a few other bits i was told a few weeks ago as long as your 29 weeks b4 april you qalify for it but apparently you can get it if you have your baby earlier than your due date so im due may the 4th if baby is born b4 april the 11th then i can get it im going to send it off anyways

Its so annoying as i didnt claim when i had my dd 9 years ago as i was working.
And now as it looks like i wont get it i have decided to kit out this baby via Ebay i just feel bad that i cant get anything brand new as i have no family to help.
On the plus side i did manage to get my dream pram off Ebay for £55 it was hardly used and the car seat that came with it has never been used.
If your baby does come early then you can apply once its born hun

Im too thinking that if it gets to the point where i cant get all the stuff i need i will be applying for a community care grant or the Social fund loan

That's so stupid! 7 years between my kids so I dnt have any baby stuff wat so ever! A child under the age off 5 fair enoth as you tend to have stuff left but 16 and under is ridiculous!!!
