Went to the doctors surgery today to discuss my back problems and see what they suggest regarding a suck note. After I sat down and explained my situation the doctor turned around and basically said 'it's your fault for not coming to us sooner and not sorting it out and getting pregnant'. I tried to explain that yes it might only be a £1.00 trip on the bus (well £2.00 there and back) but we don't always have that spare £2.00 as we're struggling really badly. He was like, there's other options. It's unacceptable that YOU haven't sorted this out, it's all your fault. I tried explaining that how can I get a lift when we don't drive, my OH's parents work and I don't know anyone up here because I'm not from here. He just wouldn't listen. It ended up with me in tears and him telling me not to take it personally. I'm so upset I just walked out of the surgery without the note etc. I looked a right state and still had loads of shopping to do when I've been in agony all day with my back and just wanted to go to bed. I'm so down. I give up. I'm done.

That's awful! GP's are there to assess and treat, not to judge!! I would be writing a letter of complaint to the practice manager. Sorry you didn't get any support, is there a different GP you could see the next time?

Yeah I'm going to request that I don't see him again. I don't know if I have a 'good enough' reason to complain? I'm not sure. What do you think?

If you feel you want to complain do it, and yes I feel you have good reason Helen.
I would change your GP at reception , as I always see a different one, but they still have this horrible lady down as my gp , so I need to officially change ito rit pops up on all your blood stickers letters etc.

Book another appointment for a different GP asap as we can't have you in pain and feelign this low,

:love:Chin up chicken XX JJ:love:

WTF?!? What an idiot! Definatley request another doctor!

I think you have every right to complain. He has obviously made you feel very uncomfortable and expressed an opinion which was a personal one, and delivered in a manner that offended you. You should be able to see your GP about any concern, be assessed and receive treatment or whatever without feeling belittled. Do you think he would say the same to someone who had ignored symptoms of cancer for 6 months before making an appointment? Sorry not a nice example but you get my point!

Written the complaint letter-OH went ape when he got home from work and made me sit down and write it. I still feel really down and shit about it and I really don't wanna go back to the surgery. It takes me a lot of planning and preparation to go places on my own otherwise I panic and this has really set me back. It sounds ridiculous but I see places in variations of how 'safe' I perceive them ie I can walk to and from school without incident and I can finally go to and from the local shops too, I won't go into the town without weeks of notice unless OH is with me and I was just feeling 'safe' about the little town/shopping centre thing where my doctors surgery is but now I feel panicky thinking about going there alone and at the minute I feel like I absolutely can't go back to the surgery without OH and it's pushing it at that. I'm going to call the surgery on Monday too. I must sound so pathetic and tbh I feel it!

Thats an awful way to be treated by someone who you are supposed to trust and have faith in. Get your complaint it. You have to go back, it will make you feel better when you have been there - don't let it ruin your ability to go there alone, just take your OH the first time. Be strong  xx

i would still complain about your GP and that you would also like to be refered to another GP asap hun he sounds a right jerk :hugs: xx

doesn't sound pathetic at all.. you have had a horrid experience and it needs dealing with
Let us know how you get on x
