I don't think my milk is enough anymore :-( he seems really hungry all the time buy is rarely satisfied! I can only get out an ounce or so when expressing.
Noticed it more the other night when we left him for the first time . I gave mil 4oz fresh and 8oz frozen thinking he would have the fresh then sleep. He fed from me for about an hour and a half on and off in the afternoon between 4.30 and 7, and between 7 and 10 when we went our he drank everything I gave mil then fed from me another 3 times before sleep at 12. I was thinking growth spurt, but I'm honest he feeds every 1-2 hours every night and has done since 4 weeks.
I'm so back and forth cos I think he might be more satisfied if I gave formula, but I always said I didn't want to give formula. I'm feeling kind of scared because my style has always been do what feels right, and all of a sudden I feel like ive been thrown off the track :-(
I usually feed on demand and he then sleeps when he is tired
I'm so confused right now as he just seems to be hungry or unhappy a lot :-(:-(:-(
O and if I did ff I have absolutely no idea about it! Not a single clue :-(
Sorry for ramblings, I'm lost :-(

What age is he? Can't see if u have any ticker as on tapatalk

Hey hun. could it be just a growth spurt? sounds exactly like harry was and they usually last a week. the feeding at night sounds normal for breastfed baby tbh but must be hard and i know that dosent help. we gave harry a bottle of formula at 5.5months once to see if he slept any longer with it and it made not difference at all to his sleeping so havnt bothered since. do you think maybe hes ready for weaning? can you ask hv or bf group? sorry dont have more suggestions but you have to do whats best for you and lo. xx

He is 19 weeks today
It is all the time feeding a lot in the day too
He has started to have a lick of toast and has a teeeny bit of puree in the last 5 days
I just don't know what to do, he has been either feeding or crying for a feed literally all day! He won't nap for longer than 5 mins, he is still awake now

I was going to say maybe he is ready for weaning but I'm no expert! Might help to satisfy him more xx

I'd say just keep up with the bf hun. Do you have a support group or worker you can go to? Most bf babies feed more often than ff ones as its easier for them to digest. Do you still eat and drink plenty? You could try eating more oaty foods and give the fenugreek a go xx

As Princess said oaty foods are good for supply. Eat, drink and rest as much as you can.

These babies vary so much. Cassius feeds every two hours during the day and sometimes three hours at night. Whereas some of the babies in my NCT group feed less frequently and weigh the same. When I express I can get 200ml out so my supply is fine, I just have a hungry baby!! Xx

Sounds like he might be ready for weaning. Speak to your HV. Id keep up with the bf for as long as you are happy to. Happy mum equals happy baby after all. Stressing yourself out won't help. Sending you lots of hugs :hugs: and I hope things get easier for you soon.xx

Also, babies get more with their sucking than we can express so he's probably getting more than you think x

Thanks for replying everyone
Kk, I thought he would be able to go longer between feeds now though? It seems to be less!

oh doesn't want me to take any tablets
We are trying to give him some foods to try and he does enjoy them, but even after food, and lots and lots of milk why is he still unhappy though? Feel like I'm doing something wrong. I eat porridge every day but don't know if that's helped.

I just thought he should want to play or whatever in between feeds, but he doesn't unles I am out, or he is in the car seat outside with me putting the washing out (strange boy lol)

This is maybe totally irrelevant but when did he last have any jags? My son got his 2nd set when he was about 16weeks old, and for about 2-3 weeks after he was unbearably crabbit and irritable, and only thing that pacified was more boob (or his swing sometimes). He was fine after 3rd set though and is a happy chap now. Just a suggestion. Or he may be ready for weaning as others have said xx

Thanks muffin, he was very crabby after 3rd jabs, but this is the better lol
I guess ill keep on with feeding. He is kat so little I didn't expect to be giving him solids yet, I mean I wanted I'm to sit unaided first, and also if he is that hungry I don't thnk he can take in that much!

Week 19 is a wonder week where babies experience a large developmental change as to how they view the world around them. They say that busyness can be seen in a baby for a few weeks before and a few weeks after this. Do you think he could be feeding more for comfort rather than because he is hungry? If you have made it to this stage breastfeeding I would think it would be unlikely that your milk isn't enough for him. If I was you I would just ride it out for a few more weeks and see if there is any difference. I hope things get better soon for you! x
