So I have been applying to jobs for a while now, only had one interview and didn't get that job... I feel the pressure on me - we're moving into a more expensive place in 2 weeks and we're £400 worse off a month cos I left my part time job I was v unhappy at a month ago. We worked out we could maybe scrape by on DH's wage and me on benefits, but neither of us want to scrape by really. So I've been promising I will find a job, and applying with everyone's support.

But today I got a call for another interview and when I told mum and DH they both started lecturing me how pissed off the employer is gonna be as soon as they find out I'm pregnant and how it's not a good idea?! But obviously they don't want me unemployed either. The only mutual ground is we all agree temp work would be best.. But I've had bad experiences with temp agencies, sending me to jobs they'd actually given to someone else and not calling for weeks and weeks... I figure at least a proper job wil be a guaranteed income for us and the LO, even if I do just get ditched after the probationary period...

What does everyone think? :( xxx

Temp could be good til bubba is here join a agency say u want temp work til ur baby is due x

No I wasn't going to. Unfortunately i'm not particularly qualified or outstanding enough to be employed despite being pregnant. I think I'd be ruled out at interview stage at the drop of a hat if I told them. DH reckons somewhere like TESCO where they probably won't care when they find out... I won't rule anywhere out - my mum has already bought so much baby stuff and i know she will probably carry on, but I want to have the money to buy my own baby stuff too! :(

Go for the interview and see what happens! You never know. Good luck!

Places like tesco etc are prob harder to get in to if pregnant as it will effect what you can do considerably. I'd go with mrs mc and try temping especially office based x x

places like tesco just put you on the checkouts if your pg or injured, no big deal, id apply for checkouts jobs anyway

Just an update! Interview went really well, he practically told me I had the job and introduced me to the managers. Won't let me know for sure til they've seen the last person tomorrow though.

I'm really excited to have a job and purpose again. But telling them I'm pregnant is still a big worry. Thought maybe I'll just work my butt off, try and impress them, do extra shifts etc... Then when I'm starting to show properly or when I get to 25 weeks I'll just sit down with them and apologetically explain somehow...? Tough to know how they'll take it but I really hope its not toooo bad.. I'm really enthusiastic about the job and it has pretty cool perks!

*sigh* xxx

That's great hun, well done!

Maybe you could tell a white lie and say that you didn't know until you had just started and didn't quite know how to tell them. Or start the job and tell them you found out just after your interview.

xxx

Ok that's the same thing lol. Baby brain! x

Lol yeah I was thinking that! I'm only 14.5 weeks and I know someone who didn't know until she was 10 or so weeks so it doesn't seem completely unfeasable :) maybe if I backdate it by a couple of weeks too (my mum said both me and my brother were 2 weeks late so might actually work out datewise lol :) xxx

A girl I know was 6 months pregnant before she knew, she had an implant! Not that i'm suggesting you tell a big lie, but there are some strange circumstances sometimes?

I dont think a little white lie would hurt - if ur only 14 weeks then maybe you could tell them you didnt know when u started. Or if you dont feel comfortable with that - tell them kinda soon after uve got the job as if ur just finding out.

xxx

Dont go ott, you dont legally have to tell them anyway. Just tell them normally when you have to on the date your meant to :) long winded storys make things worse and less believeble x
