...anyone else bought anything like this - a charm or something?

I'm spiritual, but not really into possessing items that are supposed to have a certain benefits based on what the guy with loads of otherwise insignificant stones to sell says lol

I do like crytals and things, but more for the geological significance - well i just bought a hunk of moonstone and not just any moonstone but a piece of orange moonstone because the colour orange is also supposed to relate to female reproductive wellbeing.

I even tucked it in my waistband for proximity, but that was a mistake because it was flung across the room when i whipped my pants down when i was bursting for a wee - nearly took the dogs eye out

That made me laugh :)

I'm into that stuff, haven't thought about things like that for when I do TTC actually lol.

My Mum was wondering why the washing machine started clanging recently and realized afterwards it was some crystal she'd had in her bra! Think she'd tucked it into one of the sections the little pads fit into lol

I had a palm reading in july and brought a crystal thing for good luck. i not sure if any of its true i went too 2 different ones to compare and some things were the same atlthough 1st said i was guna have 2 sons and other said 3 children first being a girl, so hmmm? lol. x

lol Louise. Where did you get it from? Anything's worth a shot!xx

Good one! and Ha ha ha to the pants dropping scenario :)

I have a tall green crystal on my desk to aid calm and creativity. Am not great on crystal lore, the colours and stuff, I think the right ones speak to you. Sometimes if I am in a shop with that sort of stuff you just get vibes off the good ones and ones that feel right, I know that sounds crackers, but they really do seem to have a lot of energy. My Dad says it's because of all the refractions inside that what ever energy you put into them bounces around growing as it refracts off every surface and has been magnified so much that you can actually pysically feel it coming back out, that's why they are good for prayer and meditation and stuff, because you can charge them up with your wishes, hopes, dreams etc and send out that energy much stronger than you can do alone.

So yay to crystals, hope it works!

Me too, I'll try anything. I actually have one in my bedroom a friend bought me years ago, doesn't seem to be working much though, I'm not putting it in my PJs though!

I also bought my friend who is pregnant after an ectopic some stones - smoky quartz for protection, moonstone for female wellbeing and rose quartz for inner peace and love :)

I looked at a crystal Kwan Yin (buddhist fertility/pregnancy/motherhood goddess) but i didn't fancy the price

Where did you get it from?
Just been down to my apartment in Portsmouth for my 1st anniversary  and there is a crystal related shop on one of the high streets, but you literally can get them anywhere - but maybe better to get them from a shop because they cleanse the stones for you.

I think that sounds so ideallic, really nice perspective.

Maybe a silly question but how do you charge them up?

I think it's a bit like making wishes. You hold it close, think your dreams into it and in return it gives you hope because you allow yourself to believe that on some cosmic level your chances have just been improved.

I took my moonstone and held it and hoped into it that it could actually help me conceive and now i feel like little bit more optimistic having it nearby :)

Right, I'll be off to chat with it when I've finished my tea! Cheers!

I have always been quite scepitical about such things as crystals and charms, however, as the time with no baby is growing, my locic and cynicysm is steadily decreasing in parrallel. I may have to go out and find my stone. Does it have to be a special colour or type? How do they 'speak' to you, do you just want to keep it when you find it?

xx

There are a whole range of what the function of each type of stone is depending on the cultural background of the theory.

The lady at the crystal shop i went to have a reference book and told me that orange was the colour that represented the female repoductive system and that moonstone was a wide spectrum stone for women's wellbeing.

She said that it was up to my personal preference whether i based my selection on colour or type - but i was forunate to find both in one stone.

I simply picked a stone that i liked the look and feel of, but i was digging thriough them all for ages lol

I have read of people just picked random stones off the street - it's mainly about how the stone makes you feel and if it feels "special" that you are more likely to accept that it might be helping you.

I will venture into the crystal shop tomorrow. I hope I don't feel silly though...

xx

Awww, i have another "charm" incoming.

My family is Catholic, although i personally am more open to other religions and spiritual guidance.

Well my mum declared she was going to get me a St Gerard Majella medallion and she only went and got it blessed by the bishop lol

He is the saint of mothers and pregnancies apparently and my mum puts a lot of faith in saints and their abilities.

It's in the post :)

Choosing a crystal:

Go anywhere 'spiritual' and you will find crystal shops. Where I am there are lots, plus places like Tintagel in Cornwall, Anywhere where Arthur or Merlin might have been or Glastonbury the whole town is full of them. Places that have fossils like Lyme Regis have a ton of shops. Bath has a very good one. I only really know south of England and west Wales, sorry. Most markets will have a 'hippy' stall or two.

Go in and pick several up. Touch them, try and feel if vibes coming off them are good or bad. They pick up vibes from other people that have touched them, so it might just feel wrong. Just find one you feel an affinity with. Personally I love green stones so am drawn to them on sight. I use them for inspiration and creativity (really important to the writer side of my personality) I find Rose quartz very calming, and anything with a deep purple feels very protective and lucky to me. So I chose the colour first depending on what i'm looking for. Don't worry about the colour properties from books, if it 'feels' right then it is.

Crystals you find are supposed to be much more powerful than ones you buy, but that's unlikely to happen.

Cleansing your crystal:

If you want to cleanse a crystal or think you've put the wrong energy into it when you were in a bad mood you need to wash it.

There are two schools of thought. For the non-pagan use salt water, this will take all the charge out of your crystal, except for it's natural properties, making it clean and ready for use again.

For the pagan you need to wash it in water left out in the moonlight. This will cleanse and purify the crystal. Full-moon light is most powerful, but new-moon light is good for a positive charge.

Charging a crystal:
As Louise says, most people hold it close, whisper their hopes and desires into it. Just remember that what ever you throw in their will be magnified thousands of times over, so try not to put any negative thoughts in it. I personally like to create a bit of an altar for what I call Crystal Prayer. I spread out a piece of velvet cloth light a candle and place the crystal in the middle then sit and stare into the candle flame until I feel chilled out. Clear my mind of everything so I can focus on the one thing I want to put into the crystal. Then with only that clear thought in my head do i concentrate on pouring it into the crystal. I try to imagine my desire like a bright thought channeling into the heart of the stone. Handle the stone if you need to channel through your hands. I've seen people press it to the third eye in their forehead to imbibe it with their thoughts.

It isnt like prayer in the sense that you are not asking it to help you, you dont need to thank it, it is yours to command, it is an empty vessel ready to take in your feelings and strenghen them through refraction so that they magnify back out into the cosmos. But it is like prayer in the sense that it is all the power of positive thought.

Hope that helps! It's only my personal take, do what ever feels right for you, some people might think it's all a load of nonsence but I think that it's lovely and that it can only help.

I bought a moonstone...it isn't very pretty though :-(

I wonder if it will help.

xx

Aw, show it more love. Tell it it is pretty! I love moonstone, it has so many positive qualities. It enhances spirituality, creates internal balance, brings peace and serenity. Good choice. Give it a little affection then try pressing it against your brow and see if you feel anything back.

I need a bit more peace and serenity - I am far too highly strung. It looks like I have bought the right one! It holds warmth very well!

xx
