One more Q - how did you defrost?? and for how long?

Sorry im a pest, just goes to show how much goes out the window after years of not having a baby. Love this forum - believe it or not i've been searching the net for hours today trying to find what you just told me, so thank you again

Little miss I am not planning of freeze the baby food but I suppose you have to take the ice cubes in the fridge to defrost the night before.

I think I will just fast boil/steam/roast every other day some vegetables and some kind of meat, depending of what we eat as freezing food always makes some of the goodies get destroyed. But that then is one of my preferences, don't let that put you off I am sure baby will thrive like that too

I will probably buy one of those steaming pure baby cooking machines.it literally takes some minutes every other 2 days to make some fresh baby food in those.

As about fruit, I don't think fresh fruit will work to freeze? Maybe you can steam though sown apples for example and freeze that?
My plan with fruit is to purée some fruit and sometimes carrot and add to yogurt or steam some fruit. I think with fruits you really have toni go fresh every time as most of the vitamins get oxidized if left long??
Good luck there is no really way to go wrong just try different things and see how your baby likes them or react to them

I will share my experience - i batch cook some and also offer him fresh food as finger food - i skipped so called stage 1 as he could handle more lumpy food - i now roughly mash his food ie parsnips, carrots and beef although beef i put in the food processor to save time - still comes in reasonable pieces.
I bought tommee tippee pots for the freeser but you can use a tray.

So for his lunch for example i will defrost in a microwave then heat one portion of a meal plus offer finger food - veggies and fruit.
I also batch cook sweet potato and freeze so i can add other things to it.
I sometimes steam veggies for his meal but dont always have time and cant be spending all day cooking, i'd rather play with my son.

He wont take any jars except fruit so i am stuck a bit with being out - i take s frozen meal, pop it in my bag and its defrosted by the time he wsnts food. Thats where having pots is useful

I don't know if you can freeze banana puree but we cut a banana into slices lengthways and froze them as treats, even dipped them in chocolate first for xmas but I dont think they allow chocolate now.

Im feeding Alice early the packets all say 4 month so i'm starting then, to be fair she is the size of a six month old now, i think the sooner she is on food the better to be honest cos milk doesn't fill her (8 oz every 2 hours now of hungry baby) i also think you cant jump from no food at all to feeding at bang on 6 month so i will start her tasting soon, just a dab on my little finger not enough to eat just taste.

Thats interesting about the food losing goodness when frozen, I will maybe just freeze one or two things then.

Knopk thanks for the tips, you're doing great, its hard work. I need to totally change what I eat just now, tbh since LO was born & we moved house ect...its been convenience food really, maybe a nice bit of beep & veg once a week, which isn't good for my eldest LO, I make sure she gets loads of fruit, but meal wise, it's not great. I need to get back into things & set myself aside a good bit of time to prepare a family meal & also food for LO. Its gonna be hard but its gotta be done!

Plus....I got a blender for my xmas, I've never used one before but i'm sure it'll be usefull for preparing LO's food.

LM you can mash and freeze banana, they suggest it as an alternative to ice cream in the BLW cook book! Not tried it yet but it sounds nice!

Omf I want that mashed frozen banana now. Feed me that

You can defo freeze banana, I used to do it with overripe ones and then use them for banana walnut cake

You can freeze bananas whole, you just shove them in the freezer, with skin & all. They go as black as anything only on the skin, but see the inside...its like banana ice cream, my 8yo loves it. Just wasn't sure if you could freeze it mashed (w/out skin)
