Hello Ladies,

I have pretty much written off this month now but just wondering what your experiences of HPT's were before you got your BFP confirmed. I have done 4 tests this month starting with day 9 and 3 out of 4 were positive but the line got fainter each time untill just a shadow and I have to admit the line on the first positive didn't come up as strong until after 10mins. Anyway, I am suspecting either false positives of perhaps a lost pregnancy. Did any of you have anything similar? Or positives and then negatives? I'm only 11dpo now but my temps are almost identical to a previouis unsuccessful month so have low expectations and won't test again unless AF doesn't arrive.

Any insight would be really handy. Hope you are all having happy, healthy pregnancies.

Thanks,
Becs

Hi Becs

Im glad you have asked this question - I definately had a line on Sunday and also faint one on Monday but now every test is negative but my AF has not started - feel totally confused (and a bit stupid!!). My ovulation sticks still show 2 lines but the second one is getting fainter by the hour!! Peed on so many now I could make buildings out of them - LOL.

Oh than God it's not just me. But it's still a mystery. Please if anyone recognises this from personal experience, write and tell us if you turned out to be pregnant or not. We're begging you

Oh i cant help with that then  I did get a + OPK and then a + Pregnancy test  (that doesnt help really does it :rotfl: )

Hey reallyoldmum,

I found this on the web, might offer some hope but I don't want to read too much into it, will keep looking.

Posts: 3,322 With my first, I got a faint positive with a First Response and went to the doc to have it confirmed. I had a lot of water to drink, so my urine was diluted and the first test I took there was a negative. Then I waited about 30 minutes and tried again and got another faint +.

>With my second, I took a First response and got a faint +. The next day I took the other one from the same box and got a -. So I bought a couple different kinds (I had saved my FMU in a cup) and tested. i got another negative with answer early but a positive with a digital test (I think clearblue, but I'm not 100% sure). I had a blood test within the hour and had an HCG of 46.

When you're really early in your pregnancy, you have a pretty low amount of HCG in your system, and even though the tests may say they test a certain level, they test anywhere up to that level. So possibly with your first test your urine was more concentrated, or the test registered at 10 mIU's or something. Or maybe the second test was faulty. You're much more likely to be pregnant with even a faint + than you are to not be pregnant. Good luck, and congrats! >

Found this too - unfortunetly :(

Pregnancies with complications and miscarriages have lower-then-expected hCG levels. If your faint test becomes negative several days later, then you possibly had a chemical pregnancy. It's estimated that up to 40% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage. It is only since pregnancy tests became so sensitive that people have realized how often early miscarriages can happen. In the past, these very early losses might not have been noticed at all, and the woman would never have known she had been pregnant.

Thanks Becs

To be honest I was gobsmacked when we did have a line as I had my coil out at the end March and apart from a couple of days of bright red spotting around the 2nd and 3rd April I have had no bleed. I only tested as I felt so sick (still do in fact) and felt like I had a water infection.
I have also used one of the tests that say pregnant or not and they both said NOT!!

I think it may just be wishful thinking and a faulty couple of sticks as at 41 I think it may take quite a while to get pregnant if at all!!

Hope its right for you though x x x x

Well fingers crossed. You may be a fertile bunny. Age doesn't matter for everyone. I really wish someone could share their story of this experience either way. I guess it doesn't happen that often. It's driving me potty today. I keep changing my mind about whether to keep testing or wait. Bet I end up spending a fortune on the way home on a stock of them.

They should be tax deductable - just picked up two more whilst I was getting my sons prescription done!! Not going to use them to next monday though :D

I am ashamed to say I just bought 4 more on the way home and thoroughly intend to do one as soon as I need the loo, even though I have said I won't test again. I'm weak, weak, weak. Also very premenstral, so I should know just by that, that it's pointless! Oh and the cramps.

*hangs head in shame*

LOL well I lasted a couple of hours but temptation got the better of me - just got to wait the 10 minutes now but really know it will still be a BFN.

pmsl

Er....it's blinkin happened again! Did test last night, was sure I could see a shadow of a blue line before 10 mins, left test in bin, checked it later and a clear faint blue line.

Tested this morning - negative!

This is getting silly. I wonder if it's a dodgey batch of clearblues?

Also now have a funny feelingin my uterus, it's not like a cramp, but more like the achy feeling you have when you have held on to a wee all night.

How did you get on ROM?

As expected a BFN - I will not test again for a week!! (she smiles to herself clutching an internet cheapie - well they dont look like tests do they) :fib:

I am pretty sure I am not pregnant, I read up on the clear blue digital readout one and they seem pretty conclusive. I really hope you are though Becs - sneaked a peak at your chart this morning and your temperature is on the way back up - that must be looking good x x x

He he, you make me laugh ROM, when is your AF due? Mines tomorrow or Sat.

To be honest Becs I have no idea - had a mirena coil removed on 21st March - had some spotting on April 3rd and 4th and not a sausage since - I have no idea if I am actually ovulating - tried using OPK's but they just always show a faint line - sometimes stronger but always there so I'm really not sure - will wait another month and then go and see my doctor if a full AF has not shown up - I have read on other forums that it can take 6 - 12 months to get back to normal after the coil but as time is not on my side we decided just to go for it from day one - need to take a second job though to pay for all the tests I am using so will have no time for Baby making :D

lol funny you should say tha i thought that about clearblues also maybe coz we want it so bad we will blame it on the hpts lol
