only the past few days i have realised how swallon i am getting i cant see my ankle bones the back of my legs are huge my hands and fingers are so fat.
it hurts feels itchy and buring..

questions

1- is it normal to get very swallon?
2- its no sign of any thing bad?
3- whats causes it?
4- how can i help ease it?

i look like iv got tree trunk legs!!!!!!

Did you askl your midwife about it? Sevear swelling is a sign of pre-eclampsia and needs seeing to straight away. I had it in my feet when i was pregnant but on in my hands. Sit with your legs raised and your hands higher than your heart.

I would ring the MW though- do you have headaches, swelling in the face, spots in your eyes or anything?

hi, no none of the other symtoms, but the swelling is quiet bad in my legs, was yours any thing bad? or just due to being big?

Mine was just due to the extra weight i was carrying. PLus with you having alot of water it might not help

But just keep an eye on it, if it gets to the point where your struggling to walk ring your MW hun- Just as a querie :D

would u get high blood presure with pre-eclampsia cause had my blood presure taken today it was fine

yeah thats the first thing they check for and protien in your wee

Well you must be ok then. just be careful it can shoot up suddenly, if you start feeling ill ring straight away.

You must just be fat!! Lol :D :D

yh i think thats what it is all these cakes and pies!!!!

th my wee was checked aswell today that was fine...

oh well its just me then being a ganit

I've got the same Dionne & my M/W said its fine & normal just all the extra weight & fluid causing them to swell.
Pre-eclampsia isn't that common & like Yvonne said you have to have high blood pressure & protein in your pee. When My DH asked the M/W about it last Tues. she said to stop worrying about things like that coz its the midwives job to pinpoint & determine if anythings really wrong! oops!

If your blood pressure is ok there isn't really anything to worry about hun but keep an eye on it just incase.

Try to keep your legs elevated, don't stand for too long or walk any great distance. You could also try ice packs or soaking your tootsies in cold water.

Hope this helps hun.

The ice packs are for the swelling on your feet dionne - don't eat them
