I'm probably being over careful.

But I've quit caffeine and aspartame along with all the other recommended bits.

I know small amounts are probably fine but it just isn't worth the risk to me.

If anything does go wrong I want to know I've done my 100% best for my poppyseed.

Same as last time really, cutting down on caffiene but still drinking the odd cup of tea (especially first thing!). I also didn't eat nuts, meringue or shell fish and tried to avoid anything high in sugar/salt x

Given up caffeine and alcohol obviously but not much else has changed. Tend not to have aspartame in my house as OH is alergic to it anyway

I have not drunk Caffeine or had much alcohol to drink except the odd wine since I got my first BFP back in October. I also have not had any Aspartame for at least a year. So that's no biggy. Giving up the ham and other things like soft serve ice-cream and soft cheeses is a little harder. I miss Pate so much!!!!!!!! I could gobble down a whole tub!

I stopped smoking as soon as I found out I was pregnant - I had been trying to stop on and off while we were TTC but as soon as I got my BFP that was it. I haven't missed them once! I've also decided to only have the very very occasional glass of wine ie: one small glass a month, if that. I have never been a big drinker so it's not much of a big deal to me not to drink - I may not even bother with the occasional glass as I certainly don't need it!
I've also cut down on tea - I have one cup of ordinary tea in the morning then decaf tea, fruit tea or water during the day. Then I treat myself to a proper cup of tea when I get in from work!

I gave up cigarettes and alcohol as soon as I got my BFP. I have cut down on caffeine, sugar and salt but have not cut them out completely (I am missing cigarettes and alcohol terribly so sometimes need a chocolate bar to perk me up LOL ).

I have given up smoking. Went off fags before I even knew I was pregnant lol. Cut out caffeine except odd sip of lucozade as has very low caffeine in it but seems to be the only thing that will settle my stomach in the mornings. Obviously not drinking it every day but it does help if feeling/ being sick xx

I have just one coffee a day, if I want it at all. Alchohol, although I did have 1/4 of a bottle of beer the other day, lol!!

Was soooo tempted by some brie sarnies the other day, but although the risk is small, it's pretty bad if it happens. I think I will at some point have a dippy egg every now or then. Pate and salami no :(

I have given up alcohol, I rarely ever drink though so it hasn't been hard. Don't eat pâté and raw eggs. That's about it.

I still drink a cup or 2 of coffee, tea a day. I eat baked Camembert, ice cream and chocolate when I do feel like it.

To be honest, the guidelines change all the time so I don't take them too seriously. With previous generations, they ate pretty much everything they wanted and we are all fine. Especially with nuts etc - if you're not allergic our baby will be fine too. :)

I don't mean to be rude but I think that's a bit of a naive attitude to have. Neither my parents or my two siblings have any allergies but I've suffered with various food intolerances since I was a baby.

I look after a 4 year old boy, he's just been diagnosed with a severe nut allergy. He's not ever eaten nuts, he just touched one while they were on holiday and had to be hospitalised. He now has to carry an Epipen and Piriton at all times, just in case. His parents and sister don't have any allergies at all.

Yep, I have a severe nut allergy and carry an epipen, I'm also allergic (quite severely to penicillin but none of my parents or siblings have these allergies.
So its not always the case x

I am just saying it doesn't mean that when you eat nuts your baby will develop an allergy. Everyone I know has eaten nuts and no one has developed an allergy. But then some babies might buy it doesn't mean it was because mum ate nuts. As many opinions as there are people. :)

Hi cupcake, best advice is on NHS website, I followed that. I cut out caffeine but now have 200mg a day and a bit more but only because I really crave tea or a decaff coffee.

Couldn't bear the stuff in Tri 1! I try to avoid aspartame but a few times I have drank something with it but I think given the small amounts I've had I'll be fine but I do avoid that where possible.

:)

Not had aspartame for years as triggers my migraines.
Cut out all alcohol, tuna and fried eggs.

cheese isn't a problem for me since I can only eat lacto free stuff anyway including the milk (gone off dairy free milk types completly now)

I really do miss a cuppa tea tho. Body likes to bring it back up so had to stop em completly :(
Hoping I'll be fine with it again in tri 2.

Oh my god - I didn't know the dangers of having aspartame, and the links with cancer and birth defects in babies  I thought I was drinking the healthy option drinking Robinsons squash with no added sugar :-( eeeeekkkkk

i've given up alcohol, wasn't drinking much anyway, still eat runny yolk eggs if red stamped from the supermarket, in France on honeymoon so have avoided what I can but have had some baked camembert (made with pasturised milk) and have avoided rare meat where possible but not always possible! Wont touch pate, and don't have aspartame very often (as far as I know). I haven't avoided nuts, and generally just been sensible with food so i don't gain excess weight, so thats good for us both :)

I stopped amoking 14 months ago, and stopped drinking alcohol in 2ww

I've also given up caffeine (I went off tea anyway and I am not a fizzy drink person!)

I don't like anything else you are not supposed to have when preggers

I still eat peanut butter though!

Oh and I still change my cats litter tray

I gave up smoking, was only a social smoker anyway and really wanted to get out of the habit so stopped that months ago.
Stopped changing my cats litter tray, my OH now takes on that job :D
Also gave up caffeine I just can't stand tea now, and I used to drink like 10 cups a day! I eat chocolate but only in small amounts.
Pretty much given up everything I shouldn't be eating, would love some peanut M+M's but will wait.
Gave up alcohol obviously, and I would normally be out every other weekend, but I'm glad to have given it up now.
Also given up my social life as my friends only every socialise with alcohol and going to bars so I'm just not interested in that. I'm hoping once I tell them I'm pregnant some will at least fancy the odd lunch but I'm not expecting to have a hugely social life at the moment lol.

Ive been pretty strict with myself regarding eating, its not fun, however will be worth it in the end. I have my own chickens and im desperate for a dippy egg! lol xx
