How many oz a day?

Tegan is now 18 weeks old and i've just switched from breast to bottle. how many oz should she be having a day? i can only get her to take about 21 is that enough? x

When discussing Owen refusing boob and using bottles too the bf counsellor I chat to said i can bottle feed on demand, which is what we do. He has more like 35 oz but 6 months tomorrow, and doing BLW. he's a big lad too. She should be able to take what she wants ( I think) as in, regulate her intake like she did on the boob?! Maybe others have different/other advise but that's what I went with...

She's still feeding on demand she likes little and often like she did when she had Boob. she's having a bottle roughly every 2.5hours. i might get her Weighed friday just to make sure she's gaining weight x

hi hun. zak is 9 weeks old and weighed 12lb10 last week. He is having 5 - 6 ozs about 4 hourly during the day and then goes about 8 hours at night. He has between 22 - 30 ozs a day depending on how much he wants. I was talking to my hv and she said it doesnt matter how many ozs they have , they will feed till full like bfing and as long as they r gaining weight and r content dont worry about how many ozs. I do feeding on demand with the bottle, no routine, zak has just got himself into 4 hourly feeds. x

If that's all she wants and her weight is ok, she has plenty of wet and soiled nappies and is content, then it should be enough. Zac is only 9th centile, he has never been a good feeder, he only ever had between 20-25 oz a day, but has always been content (well while he has been on milk free formula). I worried all the time he wasn't getting enough, but they will tell you if they aren't. X

Thanks ladies she's really content plenty of wet nappies But Not many dirty ones, Im trying to give her water as she really struggles to go xx

Start off on maybe 4/5oz's and if she drains the bottle then your know to up it. Charley's 19 weeks and takes 7oz's every 3-4 hours. He has roughly around 25oz's during the day but still feeds at night so normally has nearly 40oz's in 24 hours! He's a hungry baby! Lol

Takes them a while to get used to formula, it's harder to digest. Formula poos are thicker and stink compared to breastmilk poos! I know ur not supposed to but I gave zac a little water with sugar to help him go wen he started on formula x

My HV advised me its between 2-2.5 times there body weight in formula, Laylas allways been a hungry baby (like daddy) and can put weight on easily ( like mummy) lol
She currently has 4/5 bottles of 7oz per day so 28-35oz a day and weighs 13lb 7oz so its about right!

Hope Tegan has gained!

Isla's now breastfeeding 2-3 times a day and has 3-4 bottles of EBM. She takes between 3-5oznof EBM per feed. I've also started giving her formula every now and again - the most she's ever had in one go is 4oz. I think she 'should' be having 5oz...

Getting her weighed nex Monday so just hope that our new feeding schedule is working she's gained well.

Hope isla has gained well for you, Tegan won't drink no more than 4/5 oz at a time the HV said she should be taking 6/7oz at a time i can't force feed her though x

my lo goes thru phases!!! it can vary between 30-40oz a day!!! sometimes its around 20!!! depends on his mood!!! hes hard work!!!!
