How many clothes for newborn?

Just out of curiosity roughly how many Sleepsuits/vests/outfits etc did you buy for each size for your baby.. e.g newborn, first size, up to one month etc. I tend to go overboard but just wondering how much roughly everyone else will buy..

it depends if you have a sicky baby or not! and how many are in your family as that affects how often you put a wash on.....

My first had bad reflux and as a result had about 5 changes a day but also struggled to put on weight too.. I went overboard with the buying as it was my first and couldn’t resist all the cute outfits but she actually ended up getting a fair bit of wear out of her clothes and was in newborn size til she was around 2 and a half 3 months old. So worked out ok.. Im just curious what others generally buy/bought just to see if I am ridiculously over the top lol

At least 5 of each piece of clothing, but more if you don't want to do laundry all the time.

I've got about 6 of each and lots of bibs/muslins

maybe one or two extras for this baby as most of it was her sisters and I bought a couple of new bits

I had a very sicky baby, changed twice a day. We had about 15 baby grows and vests. We got bought alot of outfits but never used any really was easier to put her in baby grows. Also depends on if you have a dryer as youll need more if you dont x

DD not a sicky baby so had 1 vest+ 1 sleep suit a day + change of the same for night time (so for us it was 2x vest + 2x sleep suit for 24hrs). In total we needed 14 vest + 14 sleep suits per week x

This is what we did.

Neither of mine were sicky - even when Carter did get a bit sicky through change of milk, we still used basically 2 outfits per day on ave.

I started off with 10 of everything and then friends and family bought that much that I ended up with too much! But unfortunately, I had lots of newborn and up to 1 month clothes and then had a 9lb7 baby and she didn't fit in anything except the 0-3 month stuff! Make sure you take a few of each size to hospital with you cuz the midwives had to lend me an outfit to take my DD home in which I was gutted about as I had packed the cutest sleep suits!

Oh I should have said. My second was 8lb and he still went into newborn for a few weeks. But I only bought from 0-3 the newborn was gifted prebirth.

Tiny baby 3 sleepsuits 5 vests - wore for approx 3 weeks
Newborn 6 sleepsuits 8 vests - wore for approx 3/4 weeks
0-1 months 6 sleepsuits 10 vests - Wore for 3/4 weeks
0-3 months 7 sleepsuits 10 vests - wore for 4/5 weeks

My baby was 6lbs. He wasn't sicky and we didn't have escaping poops. I washed everyday or every other day as otherwise I ran out of breast pads (if I do this again I will buy more than the 18 pairs I have) and dribble cloths (I have 18, wasn't enough) so I stuck his clothes in with the same wash. I didn't tumble day anything.

I could have used less sizes (is got away without tiny and 0-1) but they looked huge on him and his arms and legs just vanished in the bigger sizes!

Yes, same here! DD was over 9lbs and went into 0-3 as we struggled to dress her in 10lbs/1st size x
