How long should you rest after the birth?
With my last one i was up and out within days showing her off?

I was upto going out and about properly about 10 days after the birth. I went out when Jake was 5 days old but I was with OH, we went in the car and we only went to mothercare. I went to the B'ham meet at 16 days and I was absolutely fine. I went on the train from Nottm

I think you just have to listen to your body. With my last one (3rd child) I had him at 7.02am and was home by 6.30 that evening. A lot of it was to do with the other 2 at home tho. I just wanted to be in my own home with my o/h and children. We were all out and about the next day.

I was pretty good after a couple of days although it was about a week before I felt up to doing a decent walk to the shops and back (half hour). By 3 weeks I'd say I was totally back to normal. Nathan was born at 1.40pm and I wasn't up to going home that day. I know there are some mums who are home after a couple of hours but I needed a good 20 hours before I went.

i think i was shopping within a week but i dnt think i was fully bk to normal until 3 weeks after. my SIL had her baby 1 day before her 18th bday and she still went out upt own to celebrate it the day after lol. i think i only went shoppin cus i was bored with being stuck in and i wanted to show her off. this time i hope it will be the same becus unless she comes a week or so ealry i am due the day my DD goes bk to school so will have to take her n pik her up from school everyday!

I'm starting to get worried as my little girl goes back to school in a few weeks and midwife said they will let me go 2 weeks over unless i'm too uncomfortable.
I have my other half to take her but i would be heartbroken if i wasnt there on her first day back (Sad aint i)

I had it all planned baby here by the 19 august few weeks to get routines established etc. Oh well the best laid plans lol!!!!

i went out first with oh at 3days old think and my mother in law to be told him that i was feeing faint which was alot of crap.i was feeling fine. shes backed off alot now else she would be doing my head in and idont need it aswell as the baby waking up all hrs.

then after that i went out on my own 5days onwards. even tho hosp said i gotta rest but i cant just sit inside and wait im an active person.cause i had a tear so i had to rest but then after birth i was laid in bed for about an hr or two and was getting bored so i got up and walked about, and to see my princess :)

I think with my last little boy he was born at 1.55am in the morning and stayed in the birthing unit till midday the next day and went home, stopped for a deli from Mc donalds as i was starving :rotfl: and went home, i was very dizzy and light headed from blood loss ect and stayed in for a day or so and had a walk round the village i live in with baby in the buggy as it was so nice and went out and about i guess shopping about a week or so after but as the others say it's about 3 weeks before you have all your strength back i would say, just listern to your body and don't push yourself you will know what you can and can't do. :D

got me thinking now!

In laws live about 40 mins drive away which all in all isnt much but i know when baby is here they are going to want us to go up there every day or something like that!!

Reading your posts may seem that i may not feel 100% able to - is hard because i have no idea what to expect!

Damn in laws - they doing my head in already

nah hun you probably wont feel up to car rides everyday, it dips some days you feel better than others. let them come to u thats what i did. you also need to get bubs settled in a used to their surroundings so being out every day would not help. i sure they would understand tho.

I went to Asda and my mum and dads on the way home from hospital!! I actually drove back from my mums (ony 5 mins) as my hubby had left his car there earlier and he needed to pick it back up. I did have a pretty straightforward labour though and hadnt needed any stitches or lost any blood or anything.
