I had a scan today and they said baby's weighing 4lb 3oz already, they said that normal although it seems on the bigger side to me, esp as im quite a small girl and didnt give up smoking until a few weeks go?
just wondered how acurate other peoples scans where when they told them the weight at later stages on a scan?
Thanks.

Hey hun, i was never told the weight of mine at scans. My sister had her DD at 33weeks and she was 4lb 6oz xx

I had an emergency scan the Monday before he was born (he was born on a Saturday) and was told he'd be 7lb 11ish and he was 8lb (though the stupid assistant who weighed him did it wrong at first!) so they were pretty close! x

helen how many weeks were u when you had him hun? x
and thanks emz1980 thats interesting :)

I never had a scan but with the tape measure I was told he was 5 weeks behind growth and would be small but he was 8 days early and 8lb 6oz so a right chunky monkey! Don't worry Hun, they do get it wrong x x

I was told by midwife I was all baby and would be 9lb+ but when in hospital when I broke my ankle 2different midwifes said I was measuring small but no weight estimate! He was born on his due date weighing 7lb 6oz!

I was 40+3 and measuring small which is why we had the scan! Turns out I was just all baby!

I wasn't scanned and wasnt given weights but with my first they said he'd be small and he was at 39 weeks weighing 5lb 13oz.

My 2nd i was measuring 4 weeks ahead and they said he'd be big. He was born 4 weeks early at 6lb 11oz (they said he probably wouldve been nearly 9lb born full term - I'm 5ft so thats big for me lol)

And my 3rd was bang on dates, was born 3 weeks early at 6lbs 1oz.

I was told the weight of mine at the last scan, don't remember what it was, I just thought, how can you tell?!

with my 1st by just measuring bump they told me he would be a big baby well he was 5lb 12 full term i was all water, with my 3rd i had a scan 2 days before he was born my waters had been gone from 22 weeks so had weekly scans, they estimated his weight at 3 and half pound he was born 4lb 6oz so quite a bit out, he was born at 33 weeks. they can only guess really. midwife told me you can only have a baby the size your body can handle dont know where she got the information from.

they were worried about babies growth so i had two extra scans for 32 and 36 weeks. They got it wrong!! at 36 week scan they told me id be pushing out a baby that weighed nearly 10lbs..

i was so worried that i wouldnt be able to push and have natural birth and told my mw my worries and she informed me that hospitals 85% of the time get this wrong.. and can be a pound out either side of what they tell you.

then my little gorgeous boy came out weighing 8lbs 6oz

so they were wrong in my case x

I was told that Lucas would be 8lb 2. He was born 3 days after the scan and his actual weight was 7lb 2. They were wrong ba while pound  xx

i never had a scan to show the weight but i asked my MW to guess and she guessed 6.13. Phil guessed 6.15 and funnily enough he was 6.15 jusgt like his daddy had guessed! however my midwife said we shouldnt put any stock in what she said as it was purely an average guess based on other babies she'd seen and my general size! she said we should purely do it for fun! but if they said theres nothing to worry about im sure everything will be fine!! xx

They was worried I was measuring small with my son and my daughter so I had scans with them I was told zander would be 6lbs max at birth and was 8lb 3oz and was only 3 days late lol and was told Chloe would be even smaller and she was 8lbs 12oz lol!!!

i had a 3d/4d scan at 30+5 and they said baby was 3lb 12oz then and would be if on time 7lb 6oz, if overdue by a week (which she was) then 8lb 1/2.. she was 8lb 4oz, so quite close for me, but i was measuring at 45cm bump when i saw consultant day b4 she was born, and she is 56cms long :)

xxx

I was always measuring about 3-4cm smaller, I had a growth scan at 36 weeks and they said she weighed 6lb something and she was born 2 days before my due date weighing 7lb 9oz :)

I was 15 days over and my bump measured at 38cm. I never had a weight estimate but the midwives did say they thought she'd be big and she was 6lb 12oz. So that was only on bump measurements but they were wrong with my LO :)

Mine was quite accurate, they predicted a big baby and he was. My bump was measuring small though so if they'd gone off that they would have been way off. They can't be entirely accurate though so you never know until the baby comes out.

Mine was RUBBISH!!! They said 8lbs 8oz born at 40 weeks... I was 40+9 and he weighed 7lb 6oz xx
