I am sick with worry for the next couple of months. I feel like I am going to be forced back to work waaay before I want to be because of finances. So so worried I wont be able to cope. I have cancelled all unnecessary bills like Sky, pet insurance and paid off our credit but I still dont think we are going to be alright.

:( so upset. x

I can totally sympathise Hun, the last two months we have been late paying the rent! i hadn't planned on going back to work at all But looks like Im going to have too and allot sooner than i want too xx

Have u claimed everything ur entitled to-tax credits etc? xx

If you have a mortgage enquire I'd you can have a payment holiday. The same for other credit agreements. See if you can lower some direct debits like electric/gas/insurance etc.

Try not to worry xx

 it might seem scary to do but you really will feel better if you write down a list of all your direct debits and bills. Then you'll know exactly how much you will be short. Do you have a mobile, even if youre in contract you can change the package youre on and there are packages as low as £15 per month if you ask even though they dont advertise them.

I dont know how much free time you have, but Ive just started doing avon, its not going to pay your mortgage but Ive had an extra £70 last month cos of it. There are other things like kleeneze and stuff too.

Get a big box and send you OH to get anything he doesnt want, CDs, DVDs old mobiles, even coats n stuff he deoesnt wear. Get on ebay, musicmagpie.co.uk & mazumamobile.com.

I found that my community centre run a food cooperative. I paid £5 and got 3 bags of fruit, veg and salad. Its worth asking around cos there wasnt really anything about it on the internet. I did a shop in Lidl today and got loads of stuff, I was a bit worried when I got to the till that it would be over £50, it wouldve been in tesco, but it came to £25 :yay:

thanks for the replies girls. Yes I have claimed all we are entitled to. husbands pay covers most of our outgoings including rent etc so that wont ever be a problem i hope! Although another worry is that he isnt yet permanent in his job.

ive cancelled anything we didnt HAVE to have. We dont have a mortgage to cant do that. I called my credit card company and they wont do anything to help me with a payment break etc.

I am thinking of doing Avon actually but technically you arent allowed to 'work' while on maternity leave and by law you have to do a tax return which I havent got a clue about! It would be very under the table for me to do it.

one thing I realised after I posted this morning is that we dont pat council tax this month or next so thats a small help.

gosh dont know what else I can do. I have got a bag of clothes for ebay but dont think its gonna get us far

Im on maternity leave and doing avon. Am I breaking the rules?! Its cash in hand and not significant enough amount to worry the tax man unless you really go for it.

dunno i just know it says in my maternity letter about not doing other work when getting statutory pay. im sure lots do it and im considering it xx

technically when you work for avon you are not employed by them, you are self employed. I wonder whether that makes a difference.

I do loads of cash in hand work, it is breaking the rules but who's gonna know :)

^^^ I nearly died last night, i was round this womans house signing her up with avon and her husband comes back from work and i recognised him but couldnt place him. turns out he works for HR at my work  I hope i dont get into trouble!!!!!

Im debating doing avon. I don't really know how Im going to cope with rent ect for the next 2 months. But Im selling my car, eating on a budget, only going to uni when absolutly necessary (costs me £40 a day to get to uni  ) and just trying to do more free things and walking places.

I can't believe how much everything is costing lately and how little money is left over at the end of the month. Urgh. £70 extra a month is fab from avon! I just need to work out how to get into it.

just look on the avon website, Im sure theres a bit where you can finda local sales leader who will sign you up and show you how it all works. Id be well chuffed if someone came to me asking, I feel like all I do is try to convince people they should do it!

I filled in the form online last night :). Check tiny out, inspiring us all!!! X

:yay: I wish they'd pay me "inspiration comission"!

haha I would like to do Avon but I know 3 representatives here already so wouldnt get far as all may friends are already bombarded. Last night I signed up to sell Usborne Childrens Books though now that I have a circle of Mommy friends! Thought it was something different to cosmetics.

Had a long chat with hubby last night and we think we will be able to skimp and save to get me through to August being off work. Beans on toast it is but so worried. Would love to be able to enjoy my time without this playing on my mind. :(

 usborne books is a good idea! you'll get through, when you actually do a weekly shop and take a list of things you actually need you'll be amazed how much cheaper it is!

This is sooo true - when I take a list I spend about £30 and when I don't it's £45+!
