Hi All,

Ive never really thought about maternity benefits and what is good and bad until recently.

Where i work i get 90% pay for 6 weeks and then SMP for the remainder. Theres no incentives to go back early and my company doesnt do childcare vouchers.

What benefits do you get out of interest?

With my company if you've been there for more than 60-something weeks you get

Weeks 1 - 6 = 90%
Weeks 7 - 18 = Half Pay + SMP
Weeks 19 - 39 = SMP

If you take the Half Pay you have to agree to go back for 3 months but that doesn't affect the amount of time you can have off.

That's the bare minimum hon, and what I got. You're better off working for the government. Private companies very often screw in this department :shakehead:

I get/got...

13 weeks at full pay & payment in lieu of holidays accrued but not taken (I'm a teacher)

26 weeks at SMP

Yep, my last job I got the bare minimum (ok this was 3 years ago). If I wanted I could have had 7 weeks at 90% and then agreed to go back for 12 months. I said no thank you :shakehead:

Exactly the same, the minimum they can get away with, but he will still expect to beable to call me to ask questions

I get 6 weeks @ 90% then 12 weeks @ 75% then SMP for the remainder. Its better than some companies but we will still be struggling :(

I'm very lucky as I work for a government agency. I get 30 weeks at full pay, then a further 9 weeks at SMP. I have to return to work for 3 months in order to qualify for this but I'm planning to go back anyway so this is not a problem.

Minimum. 90% for 6 weeks. 36weeks SMP. 13weeks unpaid.

I got the bare minimum too and finished two weeks before my maternity was due to use holidays accrued. Glad I used my holidays as they made it so difficult for me to return (quite the norm nowadays) that I had to resign and managed to find another job, albeit 10 miles away from home and starting on less pay but thats the way the cookie crumbles unfortunately.

I work for the NHS and get:
8 weeks full pay
18 weeks 50% pay + SMP
18 weeks SMP
13 weeks no pay

I have to go back to my job (or any other job within the NHS) for at least 3 months or I'd have to pay back the extra.

I work for a well know tour operator and get 16 weeks at 90%, 23 weeks at SMP and 13 weeks at no pay. No childcare voucher scheme but I'm hoping to change that by badgering my boss til they sort it out - it doesn't cost them anything after all! xx

Hi

I get:
13 weeks full pay (including SMP)
13 weeks half pay (including SMP)
13 weeks SMP
13 weeks no pay

Seems to be quite good - just wish I was on a bigger wage though as half pay is just about the same as SMP for me.

xx

i got same as you hun, bare minimum. They can shove their job at the end of it too  Ive found a better new career being a Mummy :cheer:

I got 10 weeks @ 90% pay (rather than 6) then down to SMP which I am now on. It sucks.

Don't forget to apply for Tax credits and things. It helps a bit...
