Hi Guys

I promise I have never been on benefits in my life, worked like mad most of it so what benefits am I entitled to once the baby is born?

I intend to stay off on maternity for 6 months (mortgage to pay!!) then hopefully find a child minder who can deal with my shift system 3 days on 3 days off not the same each week. My company do Busy Bees vouchers (whatever that is!) but is that it?

I have heard about working families tax credit, £200 towards the baby (or is that for a savings account?) and then I heard about a grant for £500 somehow and other stuff but could someone claify who is eligible please? I have an OH but although he earns quite a bit is also in quite a lot of debt so is therefore useless!

Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks
W

tax credits, child benefit, sure start maternity grant, and the cheque you are talking about is £250 towards a child trust fund.

sorry to not be able to expand on them, but i'm not 100% knowledgable about benefits! try those though.
