I went to the EPU today and she said I was measuring 7 and a half so about 7+3/4. I had a TV scan 6 days ago and was measuring 7+1. So basically she's saying it's only grown 2 days worth in 6. The heartbeat was strong and fast (she didn't let us hear though) just saw it on the screen. It wasn't a very good scan tbh could barely see anything.
With all my previous miscarriages, growth was the first sign it wasn't going to last even if it had a HB.
So now I'm just worried that it's not growing as it should, or is it just that it went from TV to abdominal?
I thought you was supposed to have a good image by 8 weeks? Was just a blob still :/ :wall2:
Please be honest..xx

Hi PB. I went for an early scan at what should have been 8 weeks and I was measuring a week behind. It didn't look like anything so she even had to write baby on it lol! It had a very fast heartbeat. I've attached my picture for you to see. I haven't ever had a tv scan so can't comment on that, but I thought they could see more through a tv scan which is why they do them in early pregnancy sometimes over an abdominal, but I'm not entirely sure.

Hi pb,

I had to have tv scan at 8 weeks as they still couldn't see anything abdominaly.
Let's hope it's all still ok, and the measurements are just not that accurate. My private scan and nhs scans were 4 days out, and the sonographer when having my nhs scan said that she would use the private scans dates as they had better equipment.
If you're still concerned, have another scan, you've been through enough. Sending hugs
I've attached my 8 week (tv) scan xxxx

If they had just given me a tv scan I wouldn't be in a mess right now. Now I have to pay £60 to calm me the fk down. Been munching chocolate nibbles and vimto since I got back, I don't even know what I'm thinking:( ugh. I didn't tell them I had a private scan because they seem to get offended by it, so just pretend I didn't know how far along I was. Meh

The purpose of an early scan is for viability but also for re-assurance. You haven't had that, I would ring them and ask for a re-scan but tv this time as you are extremely anxious and it's making you feel ill. Given your history lovely, they should give it to you. If they don't (which I think is really harsh,) then book in for another private one xx

I highly doubt theyll give me one they said evrything is fine. They asked me why I was there because I hadn't bleed basically... I feel incredibly uncomfortable there tbh, all feels rushed and I shouldn't even be bothering them :( juts gonna go private xx

Scans before 10 weeks are inaccurate for growth measurements which is why they scan for dates between 11 and 13 weeks. There's a heck of a lot of room for babies to wriggle around and hide in there, to the point where some twins aren't noticed until 20 weeks! I would ring them back with a complaint and ask for another scan. You shouldn't have to pay for their lack of care

Don't know what to do with myself, I was hoping I'd be calm and relaxed now. I just have a super headache :( I really hope it was juts a shitty scan and baby is fine  x

Your Epu sound disgraceful to be honest lovely. Get yourself another scan, the stress isn't worth it xx

They are. They wouldn't let me have a scan at 6 weeks even though I'm supposed to. They kept me waiting an hour past my appointment time, then was in there for 2 seconds. I herd the ladies behind the desk talking about a 'fat' woman (thier words) i was the biggest person there i thought they was on about me. I've read on google most people have both scans if it's early on. They didn't measure how many BPM with heart (I even asked her if it's ok and fats enough, and she was just like yeah it's fine). Ikno I complain alot about them but I feel really let down.
Even my docs are bad (I'm moving soon so I'll change) i called them and apparently they have no appointments to see the midwife until I'm over 11 weeks, I was like well what then? They said they'll get the midwife to call me back on Friday, well see if it happens. I'd say it's a bad day, but baby still had a heartbeat so I'm over the moon with that. X

Was it Good Hope? If so, talk to PALS. They'll get you sorted

No, I live in dudley so mine is russells hall hosp. Am I allowed to go to different hospitals?

Lol, the lady doing my scan though said my tummy is sticking out where my uterus is, heh made me happy, If I wasn't fat I'd have a bump!!

Is there a way you can go to a different EPU and get them to rescan you and double check dates? Tell them about your history and even tell them you're getting cramping (sneaky!) and get them to do another scan to see if they can reassure you?

My EPU is also really horrible. When I saw the heartbeat, all I got was a "congratulations"; I wasn't told the rate or even got to see if for more than 3 or 4 seconds before the screen was then moved from my line of sight. I was told anything, just to go back to GP for referral to mw. The hospital closest to me where I'm assuming my mw will be at is actually horrendous and the reviews online are appalling. I don't think we should have to put up with something we are not happy with..

If you're not happy, try somewhere else? Worth a shot, even if they just reassure you with words x

Yes you can go to a different hospital chick, talk to your mw about it. They can go through your choices with you, they dhoukd give you at least a choice of 2.

Not all EPUS are walk in. Have to be referred by mine but I know some do walk in.
Personally to save the worry, I would book a private scan. The scans are not majorly accurate at this stage, when I went I was measuring spot on but she said if another sonographer came then could measure differently so there is room for error with them at this stage, esp if first scan was internal and this one abdominal xx

My epu isn't walk in. I didn't even know they did walk in epu. Well that's awesome news. Hubby has told me just to book in with the one I went to for my 7 weeks scan so I'm not stressing lol. X

Ah. I live in London though so maybe I'm used to being a little spoiled for choice!

That's good. They will take more time with you too. Epu is very rushed xx

I was referred to the EPU for an early scan due to spotting. I refused the TV scan as previous ones had been painful. The sonographer was shitty with me due to my refusal and told me they wouldn't see anything. I knew I was 7+1 but she refused to put me anywhere over 6 weeks as she couldn't see the baby clearly with it being abdominal. She showed me the HB and then told me to go back to the waiting room. The nurse was very reassuring and explained my scan results to me.

Fast forward to my 12 week scan and I was put forward 4 days.
