Housing Advice needed. UPDATED!!

Hi, Thanks for the reply!

I don't know how i worded it in my first post but my mum is not a raving alcoholic, lol! :)

We get on really well. And she has alot to cope with looking after my dad etc.

It's just now and again she sits there and gets drunk and if something has pissed her off she has a tendancy to start an arguement.

But she has been really good to me and DP and especially since we found out i was pregnant.

I just don't like having to live their and feel like i 'owe' her all the time. But she is not a raving alcholic by any means!!

She would write a letter saying she was going to throw us out if we were desperate for a place. But we have been on the list almost 2 years and i feel it a bit out of order to get emergency accomodation when we don't really need it. We have a roof over our heads and if we are still there when the baby comes then we will make do.

We don't qualify for housing benefit or income support as we both work full time. I think i put that in my original post?? So i don;t know why you said we get one income, lol! Its just we will be skint when i am on mat pay.

Thanks for the info though. As i say we will wait and see, we will have a good chance of getting a place soon. And it will be cheaper if we sit and wait it out and save our pennies!!

Hiya, I don't know either, I'd read through the past few posts and knowing me I've picked up something from everyone's replies and come out with the complete wrong end of the stick. I know what you mean about not 'needing' housing so to speak when you have a warm roof over your head but sometimes you have to put yourself first as if you don't push your case no one else will. I didn't realise council lists were 2+ years long, I wonder why they let some properties just sit empty then? Crazy...anyway best of luck with your accommodation search, I'm sure something will turn up when you are least expecting it. Pre-baby would be lovely!! :)

Thanks hun!

Yeah pre baby would be good and i am applying for three houses this week! In our area you have to apply for the ones you want then the highest priorty band (urgent, needing and wanting) with the longest date on the list gets offered it.

So it depends who else applies. They change the properties each week. Some weeks there are none suitable though.

I think i would rather stay with my mum than get temporary housing, even though it would spped up the process. At least with my mum these she can help with baby when DP is back at work!

Let see, i think if the baby comes and we find it hard at home then we may try to push more )
