Hello ladies.

Ive always wonded when you go in hospital to have your baby after the birth are you made to breastfeed by the nurses? as i have hurd alot about it and apparently you have to!
is this true?

x

yeah choose what you and OH want to do, they cannot make you do anything you don't want to, merely offer support and advice and suggestions to help you. Do what feels right for you at the time!

A few of my close friends have felt a bit pressured to breastfeed if they haven't been very clear with the staff. One of them said bottle from the start and had no bother. I think as long as you are clear and comfortable with your decision there shouldn't be any pressure (not that there should be pressure anyway!). It's what's best for you and your baby!

Yeah, I'd say the same as the others. If you want to do it they are a great help but if you don't, that's your choice and you will need to choose which brand of formula you want to use - the lady next to me didn't want to breastfeed and didn't know which formula to use but the nurses said they couldn't advise. Not sure if that's right for everywhere but if you're not planning on feeding then might be one to think about before going in.

In short...No.
I wanted to give breastfeeding a try but after a long and traumatic labour I wasnt up to it. MW asked breast or bottle. I explained I wasnt feeling up to it and to give him a bottle for now and that was that.
