Ladies im looking for your experiences of hospital stays after the birth how long do you have to stay in etc

after:

Natural birth with just G&A/no pain relief
Natural Birth with Epidural
C-section

I had natural births with gas and air with all three and came home anywhere between 6 and 24 hours later, mostly depended on the time of day they were born and how busy staff were to sort out discharge.

I had a natural labour, no pain relief.
I gave birth 8am on the Sunday morning and left at 4.30pm on the Monday. It would have been earlier but Angel couldn't control her temperature. They were reluctant to discharge us but i was persistant and she had started to do well.

TBH i think they try and get you out as soon as they can, but only when you are ready.

I gave birth to Chloe using Gas and Air and came home after six hours. The thought of being able to go home was the best pain relief for me as I had heard that if I had an epidural I would have to stay in for two days. It all depends on your hospital and your determination to go home. Hope you get what you want.

i had an induced labour with epidural - connor was born at 4am and i was home by 7.30pm. i had to push to be discharged though (i hated the post-natal ward) otherwise they'd have kept me in til the following day.

Thanks for your replies i'm hoping that he comes earlyish in the day and that i can do it with as little pain relief as possible so we can be home same day because i have a MASSIVE fear of hospitals and i was attacked just around the corner from where i will be delivering so the fact that Matt (OH) would have to leave me in there with baby overnight is really scaring me, i know hospitals are safe but i cant help thinking about the what ifs like what if one of the girls who hurt me is on my ward having just had a baby etc the thought of staying overnight in hospital is enough to throw me into a full blown panic attack so i'd like to avoid it obviously.

I had a normal delivery with G&A and was let go after 7 hours, as long as you have had an ok birth and you and baby are doing well they try to get you home asap and into the community midwives care.

I had an emergency section as was in 3 nights after birth. I probably could have gone home a day earlier but they were waiting for bloods to check if I was anaemic, which I was!

I had an emergency c section at midnight on Sunday and was on the ward for 3am and I was discharged on Tuesday.

Just gas and air and went straight into delivery suite on arrival. Birth at 7.30am, left at 5pm. Could have left earlier but they forgot about me  . TBH I was desperate to go home, baby was asleep and I felt fine so pretty bored sitting in an empty ward as I was the only one in there and DH kept on about how much the parking was costing us because her had to keep topping it up every 2 hours  .

That sounds typical of a man

I was induced on the Saturday and didn't get out till the following Wednesday (she was born on the Sunday). I had complications following the birth, though, and finally got sorted on the Tuesday but had to stay in for observation overnight.

my last hospital stay lasted about as long as the sex i had that got me there in the first place

That was either good sex or a conveyor belt hospital!

i would love to say it was a marathon sex session but sadly was more of an 'in and out' hospital

I stayed in four days and had an emergency c section.

i was in 10 days with emergency section but Hannah was in scbu and i had chest infection

Had to stay in both times because I retained my placenta, after a manual evactation there is a high risk of infection so my hospital like you to be where they can monitor you. DD also pooed inside me so was put as a medium risk baby which they like to keep in for a day to monitor.

I had an epidural and stayed in hospital from when i had him on the friday morning to the monday lunch time. They let me stay until i felt comfortable to go home. i thought id wanna get out of there straight away but i actually felt very comfortable there.

I was in labour for 56hrs and had no choice but to have an epi. after labour i was very very stiff (took me about a week to walk normally again) and from my 2nd degree tear i ended up swelling up down there like a balloon  not very nice so they wanted to keep me in to check i was ok.

They were very good in the hossy. helped me loads the first night as i couldnt pick my son up as my hand was sooo swollen from where i had the drip in and i could hardly move as i was so stiff and had a very sore front bit  was lovely to come home but the hossy and staff were great.

Had an emergency c-section at 2130 on monday & I begged to be freed on thursday!!! :rotfl:
