OK so we've decided on our baby boys name and its ......... shai mykola pronounced as shay and mikola....
Shai is Irish and my nanas family r Irish and mykola is Ukrainian and translates to Nicholas which is my partners name and his grandad was called mykola and also his family is Ukrainian. We have had a few mixed opinions off ppl but we like it. x also bubs surname is a mouthful which is why we chose a short first name xxxx

Sounds lovely together. Personally I prefer traditional names but is whatever floats your boat! And that name is lovely and sounds like it has a lot of family connections! X

I also prefer traditional names but go with it if you like it hun x

When I looked at Shai to be honest I thought it was a girls name, but then I do know of a man called Shay, so I see where you are getting it from.

It definitely is unique and if you like it then go with it - why care what other people think, your child your choice.

Thank u ladies......yeah we have gone with this name as it has family ties. I also love traditional names too. My second choice was James or Ellis xx so hard choosing names xxx

I like the fact that you've used family names but think I'd go with James Shai Mykola which uses a mix of family names and a more traditional first name xx

I read his name out as I saw it and had said Shai as (shy) , until I read on and you had said it was pronoucned Shay - lovely name, hard for people to get it right maybee. I said the second name correctly tho. lovely meaning behind the names and thnk that thhey are traditional names for your familys- go for it..
