Does anyone have any experience of this or is planning on a home birth?
I would like a home birth and have booked the pool ready, but I'm very open to having to go in if needed, plus I don't know how I'll be with the pain, as this is my first baby!!

Just wondered what other peoples experiences are?

I'm planning a home birth and it's my first. I would like as little medical intervention as possible but as time goes on I just want baby here safe and sound however it happens. I've borrowed a pool too. How far along are you? xx

I'm 26 weeks, so there's a while to go :) How far along are you?
I've signed up to an NCT homebirth group to meet other mums who are planning/have had homebirth, to get some more info! x

I'm 39+3 so on the final stretch! There are a few really good Facebook groups that I've found invaluable. I think most areas do a local Facebook homebirth page too if you search. I'm happy to answer any specific questions you may have too :) xx

My main (slightly silly) concern is who cleans up after?? I don't think I'd be up to it, so hoping the midwives help out a bit!
Have you done any preparation or anything? I've bought a hypnobirthing book, not started it yet though.
I just really want the birth to be a positive experience, and I'm so determined not to let myself get scared pr listen to the horror stories!

I would recommend everyone go for a homebirth.

I went for one with my first labour and had to be transferred but kept my awesome midwife

Then had a stillborn

Then had a hospital birth because of the stillborn, was treated like Crap. Told I wasn't in labour, made to feel like an inconvenience and then gave birth with no one in the room because I 'wasn't in labour'

This time I have FOUGHT for my homebirth because even if I have to be transferred, I can be transferred with a midwife who won't treat me like the crap on her shoe.

I am excited by this birth :-)

So sorry to hear about your stillbirth, that's terrible.
It reassures me to hear that although your initial experience sounds very difficult it hasn't put you off or made you not want a homebirth in future.
I also feel excited at the prospect of a homebirth, just hope she's a good girl and doesn't end up breech or something! xxx

No you keep your midwife if you transfer so you really get the best care with a homebirth regardless of conclusion!!

I'm leaving the clearing up to my oh! I believe the midwife will help too. I've spring cleaned the house in preparation! Not done any hypnobirthing or anything, but I'm the type to just power through and I have faith I'll get myself through it one way or another. As it's my first I have no preconceptions therefore not planning too much.

There are horror stories out there whether you choose to birth at home or in hospital, it's good to be prepared should a medical emergency arise but don't focus on that side of things too much.

Salisburymum I'm so sorry to hear you had a stillbirth. Hope all goes smoothly with this one xx

Ladies the best labour prep I can give you is to keep your moans low and intense and your lips (on your face) soft.

If you are still sleeping with your partners, try it during sex, low moans and then high pitched noise. The high pitched noise will make your vagina tighten the low moans keep everything relaxed

which is what you want!!

I'm a FTM and also hoping for homebirth, but very open minded about it all. So will go in at any sign of problems.
I'm 39+1 so getting close now! We pumped up pool today and did a deep clean of my "nest area"!! Getting real! Xxx

That's so exciting!! Please let us know how you get on, my midwife said that the most successful home births and are from who believe they will have a successful home birth, and that feeling confident is very important!!
