i booked for a home waterbirth (1st baby) it is not unsafe at all sometimes safer than hospital look at www.homebirth.org.uk for the facts on home birth and peoples stories. i had to transfer in for meconium in liquer baby was absolutely fine natural delivery 10lbs 3 oz. even if you did need a ceasarean there is time to get to hospital be admitted etc emergency c section only means unplanned c section a true emergency is a crash c section and this is very very rare. You are much more closely monitored at home as midwife is there all the time she isnt dipping in and out room like at hospital. if there is a problem then it is quickly identified and the midwife will not hesitate to transfer you in. if your baby was unwell at birth your midwife can resuscitate at home she has equipment with her. when i transfered in we took our time 10 mins away from hospital too we drove in arrived about 1 hour 30 mins after meconium found. do some research, find out the facts a lot of people feel scared by homebirth but hospital is not always the best place to have a baby.
