Home Birth

i booked for a home waterbirth (1st baby) it is not unsafe at all sometimes safer than hospital look at www.homebirth.org.uk for the facts on home birth and peoples stories. i had to transfer in for meconium in liquer baby was absolutely fine natural delivery 10lbs 3 oz. even if you did need a ceasarean there is time to get to hospital be admitted etc emergency c section only means unplanned c section a true emergency is a crash c section and this is very very rare. You are much more closely monitored at home as midwife is there all the time she isnt dipping in and out room like at hospital. if there is a problem then it is quickly identified and the midwife will not hesitate to transfer you in. if your baby was unwell at birth your midwife can resuscitate at home she has equipment with her. when i transfered in we took our time 10 mins away from hospital too we drove in arrived about 1 hour 30 mins after meconium found. do some research, find out the facts a lot of people feel scared by homebirth but hospital is not always the best place to have a baby.

thanks nathansmum. im going to look at the link you posted. I would really like one but in the back of my mind there are nagging worrys. which are normal i supppose.

thanks again.

i couldnt give birth at home incase stuff splatters up the walls :rotfl:

Maybebaby, I had my second and third babies at home and for me personally it was the most amazing experience.
You should be able to have your first at home judging by what you have said, what I would say to you is discuss it with your midwife and ask her to take you through what would happen during each stage and what would happen in the event of any complications.
If you still feel confident then go ahead and I hope with all my heart it's something to remember for you.

My MW gave me a list of stuff to have in for this one, she seemed really up for a homebirth (even though it's a long way off).

I don't want to leave Ella whilst I go into hospital, so am hoping for an easy pregnancy and labour and having bub at home.

Hopefully we'll go to the baby show in Oct and have a look at some of the birthing pools, I want one in my front room but am worried about water splashing everywhere.

The more I read about home births the more I want to do it, I hate hospitals ( had some very bad experiences in them with care ) they make me anxious, worried and frightend I don't trust them.

That then makes me scared, not the giving birth part, but more on how I will be treated and cared for.

Having a home birth would make me feel much more comfortable and happy therfore making the experience better for both me and baby. I will have OH with me all the time and have one on one care which is just fantastic, thinking about having a home birth is making me feel a lot more positive about the birth, and knowing the toilet is next to me and shower and I will have my comfortable bed.

I know things can go wrong, but im low risk im fit and healthy and young, if anything were to go wrong I know I would be in safe hands.

But all I need to do now is tell my midwife  wonder how she will take it ( seeing her thursday )
I hope she is supportive but if not I wil go elsewere and find someone who will I am not giving up that easily!!

xxxx

Thinking about it tho what is my chances on having a home birth? I am due Christmas, she will proberly use that as an excuss.

OHHHHH :(

I was due December 29th with Ella and was told it wouldn't be a problem having a homebirth even if I did go into labour Xmas Day (which I did!). They wanted to send a mw out to me anyway (at home) but I would have had Ella if I'd waited for her.

Aww Kina you have made my day it was going over and over again in my head last night I was so worried that I couldnt because it being christmas!! Thanks for replying !!! youve made me feel so much better
